how it's in USA?

i was wondering, how it's in use when you boost your car and you must to pass the "compulsory vehicle inspection" ? do you need to "standardize" your car cuz before your car be na and now is turbo? or you just boost your car and havent problems with cops and you pass properly the "compulsory vehicle inspection" ?

just curious ;)

here (in spain when im living ) it's a really really crap..

i'm my country.. just you need to have correctly the VIN number with engine and so good and you will have not problems..

really crappy in Spain huh?

Try livin in CA. and with a hmt kit. smog refs/ love you!! inspections here are every other year. most of us just have stock motors layin around just for smog purposes. Or get a hook up with a shop that does illegal smogs that cost a pretty penny. I gotta smog my hatch in Sept. sux.

Re: how it's in USA?

Only certain states and cities have mandatory emissions testing. Most people will make their car stock before they test, then install their ---- after they pass.

Or they have a friend that works for an emissions testing place that can say they passed.

Or they bought a greddy kit :S which is street legal.

D15Bastard 08-30-2006 05:42 PM

Re: how it's in USA?

the greddy kit comes with the 50 state legal sticker right?

think if you just slapped that sticker on under the hood on your HMT kit, it would pass visual?

really? :S

i see. here is like the same.. or you need to standardize your car or you dont pass your turbo car.. or you know a guy that works for an emissions testing place...

so what time do you need to pass the emission testing (only emissions?) for your car? i thing it depend what year has your car, like here, right? i must to pass each year (or everyear).. :'(

Re: how it's in USA?

when I was stationed in california, I had to pay $300 to pass smog with a stock b16 swap under the table. now beingwith the US army in Germany my car only has to pass the brake test, have no oil leak, no rust, or no exhaust leak, its a lot better now. but for actual Germans the law here really suck. if dont come stock with the car they cant have it.

Japan has the most retarded tests around. Although, it does keep the shitty cars off the side of the road, and with as many cars as there are on this tiny island, you dont see to many broke down.

How to pass the test, find someone who will "paper test" your car or make your car stock if your worried about it when you do the test. My "paper test" ran me about $100 more than a regular inspection would have.

in louisiana you have to drive into a bay and tell them how many miles you have on the car, after that you have to give them 10 dollars to get your sticker.

so do you were in madrid? good.. you would can to go here again! and to make some mani! :P

other doubts about it , is.. as much time do you must to pass the emission test? i guess according what year is your car, right? i.e. here, my car is 94 year , so i need to pass that test everyday.. when your car is "more modern" you pass the test each two years or 4 or so.. how it's in usa about this?

Really? For some reason I thought you lived out in the St. Helens area. I always take my car out there to the DEQ to get tested because they have the low dyno.

At least we don't have visual inspections here, as long as your car passes the emissions testing, it doesn't matter what you have on your car. Which is the way it should be.

Re: how it's in USA?

^according to the oregon deq website the zip code for st helens is not required to take the vehicle inspection test, which includes emissions....thats where i have my car registered, so i guess we'll see when registration comes around in nov

Haha.. go figure. I live in Beaverton and go out to St. Helens to get my car DEQed. Why is there a DEQ there if people in St. Helens don't even have to go there? lol

yea that makes no sense to me either....have you tried running through there with your turbo setup? ive been told they dont really check for anything and that you could really just go to the dmv in st helens and theyll just give you new tags without a deq slip.....who knows for sure....maybe random does
