how-to: Hands-down best Teriyaki Chicken EVAR
First start cooking some rice. Get 2 cups of water and salt it a bit, get it boiling and add 1 1/4 cups of rice. Turn down to a simmer and cover. Set a timer for 20 minutes.
Now, you gotta make the sauce. It's extremely good ----. Just put the stuff together and whisk it for a minute. http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/6991/img1187xr1.jpg http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/8334/img1190sg6.jpg In a pretty big pan, start cookin some onions with some butter on lowish heat http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/9596/img1192bq1.jpg Cut up a couple zucchinis http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/9459/img1193ta7.jpg Cube a pound of chicken http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2127/img1194dd9.jpg The rice is probably done around now. Remove it from heat, uncover and stir it around once in a while. Try to get it to dry out some for the frying. Start cooking the chicken on medium heat until it's getting close to done http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/5996/img1196py4.jpg Once the chicken is about done, throw in some teriyaki and up the heat. Make sure the chicken stays moist and don't let it dry out. Personally, I prefer "La Choy" brand for it's high sugar content. This time, my wife wanted me to try Kikoman. I mixed some honey with it but it still isnt quiet sweet enough. I say go with La Choy for this. Also, La Choy cooks to a nicer color. This ---- looks burnt but tastes good. Also, don't be tempted to cover the chicken until its 1)cooked and 2) the nasty smell has all but been cooked out of the teriyaki. Now Put teh zucchini in with them onions, turn up the heat and add teriyaki. http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/1276/img1199hx5.jpg Once stuff is nearing done, put the onions and zucchini in with the chicken and cover with some tin-foil to keep the moisture in. http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/726/img1200ao9.jpg Put some oil in the empty pan and turn it up to medium-high, add rice, salt, fresh ground pepper oh yeah and teriyaki http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/3000/img1202ce0.jpg The way I do it is let the rice sit for about 20 seconds, then mix it. Keep doing this for about 5 minutes. Plate and serve. The sauce goes with the chicken as well as the rice. http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/7017/img1204tv2.jpg |
