How fast are Jetta Wolfsburgs?
 

My friend got a few year old (current style) jetta wolfsburg... are they fast? What do they run? From whay i understand they are pretty heavy too... its got the 1.8T

Same as any other 1.8T just a beefier and stiffer suspension, no engine upgrades.

my friends sister has one and hes like ::its so fast:: yea because all you have to do is put a chip in them. i hate that ---- >:(. thats not a true car person where all they do is have to put a chip in a car to make it go fast. thats why im a honda fan. you have to work to get horse power

If all you got to do is put in a chip... I'd say its a pretty damn good car to begin with. =) Honda or not, its a good car.

I agree. If you have the chance to start with a factory turbo, you are one (major) step ahead in the game. Then you can focus on the stuff we all want to do once our FI setups are running like exhaust, suspension, etc. My buddy got his GTI chipped, and it is sweet. The difference driving my car vs. the factory boosted car is ver noticeable. It is so smooth and integrated.

If you are 'chipping' a car you really arnt making it that much faster, just changing around a fuel map....from economy to power based...and increasing boost...

I think its annoying to hear people claim the 'chip' gave this all the power...no dumbass your wastgate is just closing off sooner, and you are pushing your fuel system to its max, trying and keep your Unmodified fuel system from running too lean.

Save your money, buy bigger injectors, and a manual boost controller, then lets talk

ok my friend has a gti 1.8t stock it has 160 hp tq. when he got his chip it boosted it up to over 210 hp and over 220 fp tq. thats serious :o
i think that would make it just a tad bit faster- ya think :P

hes got a chip exhast and intake. a chip adds like almost 40 hp.

you forgot the altezzas... Anywho i have seen reports of numerous stock turboed cars picking up serious gains by just using a huge exaust, subaru WRX being one of them. I didnt even ask about my friends' audi S4(not A4, TT V6, fast)

just got done putting on my friends exhuast on his jetta 1.8t it think it was 2.5in

sounds freakin nice. he's added a cold air intake too which sounds good also. I've read they run around a 15.7 stock :( and 0-60 in 7.2

I dont know why you all hate Vws.The 1.8t is a better engine from the factory than honda could ever build.Dont get me wrong I love my civic but that 1.8t will handle over 20psi,make 300hp,and 350ftlbtq with stock internals.Yes douche Boosted VWs make way more tq than hp.And as far as chipping goes,it is making more power.There are diferent stage chips.These cars are verry de-tuned here in the states.In germany they come with 200hp and 225ftlbtq at 14psi.By chipping them you are not maxing out the fuel system ::).

Also you cant use a boost controller on that engine.It will throw a CEL after 10psi.

People hate what they dont understand so before anny of you talk out of your ass and start talking ---- about the 1.8t read a little first.If you are a true car enthusiest youll apreciate anny car that you can gain 50hp just by spending $350 an a chip.

My buddy has an F350 with the Powerstroke(Diesel)motor. He works on diesels for a living installing high performance packages such as chips, intakes, exhausts, turbos, gauges, yada yada yada....

A "chip" makes close to 100hp on these things. Yeah, I know diesels are different, but that's some serious ----. You can plug it in, drive it, unplug it and feel a rediculous difference. The chip does change fuel maps and holds the wastegate shut longer, but it is the "chip" making these changes so it's kinda stupid to say it's not. :-\

I might be rockin' his F350 to the Cali meet in a few weeks. I'll show you guys some diesel competition. 8) You would be surprised what that thing can pull.

They are ------- huge.

This one is from a 6cyl Dodge diesel. The powerstroke is bigger. 8)
I sold this to a member here and he won't reply to my emails. I want to know how it's working for him. He was going to put it on a B18.

yup that thing is ------ huge :o. ---- and he put that thing on a b18. that ---- must take a little while to spool up on that engine-ya think :-\ but it must be hella fast when it does.

Our mechanic drives an older powerstroke and its an ar.75/1..That turbo is ------- eeeeeeeuge!

My friend has a 1.8T golf and its ---- bad ass !! BOV, intake, and APR chip.

I think VWs are the exseption to the rule on "chips adding lots of power", they really do add insane amounts of power, my friends GTi is almost "all show" with stock exhuast and is only a fender slower my 14.6 civic, with sunroof, leather seats, heated seats, spare tire, and about 100 other things my civic lacks !!!

My other friend has a 04' chevy duramax 4 door truck that smacks both of us 0-60, haha... Its a 6.6L turbo with a 5-speed auto. mods ?? Chip, drop in air filter, and 4'' exhuast.... Took my other friends 03' lightning till 65mph to catch him, haha... ( lightning has exhxhuast and intake too, haha ).

I drink milk with cookies. ;D I have a hard time choosing milk over beer. If there is beer in the fridge I'll grab that instead. :-[ I woke up this morning and my bones hurt.
