I got this for free from my dads work, Dont know what its for exactly but I thought I'd make it in to an intercooler.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...3/DVC00628.jpg
Each one of the bars is .4 or .5 of a centemeterin diamiter, so lets say .4 X 24 = 9.6 = 96mm /25.4 = 3.7" so the combined area would be 3.7" of bars for the air to travel through.

The hole for the front mount, I still have to do body work on the car.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...3/DVC00630.jpg
Interior taken out to get the car ready for work and painting

This side I have to grind out the rust and weld new metal in with holes for the clips.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...3/DVC00632.jpg
This side was not bad, had a bit of surface rust, I grinded it down to bare metal primed it and used rubber coating on top, about 3 coats, the car will also be oil guarged after the paintjob, so nothing is going to rust on me anymore.

That will not work as an intercooler.

use it as a heat exchanger for a water to air intercooler. Thats what it was designed for (heat exhanger)

looks like a A/C core, i don`t think there`s enough passage for the air to go throught.

Ok i'm gonna ditch it then, and save up for something else, I thought it might work.

Good idea

that could really cool my transmission! :)

Maybe if you modified it like such, cut all the little u-bends off to allow air to flow and then put some end tanks on it. Doubt the flow rate through it would be too great but if you need a cheapo one that bad would be super ghetto :P

guys, you cant use a heater core as a intercooler, we use those in the rerigeration systems at work...

nice try tho... id rather use a dsm sidemount than that thing.

man o live, retards...

you can see the tubes running through the cooler little tiny tubes.

The ignorance in this thread is strong :-\

Listen to what everyone is saying. It absolutely CANNOT be used to cool air, in fact you would be better off pissing on your stock pipes, than attempting to use that heap of ----.

Yeah, I kinda got that 9 posts ago.

now that everyones saying no. id like to see what it could accualy do if you attempted to use it

hell computer heat sinks are going to ---- that looks like

http://www.resnet.northwestern.edu/t...c03%5b1%5d.jpg

that using heat pipes opposed to using an all alumnium fin heat sink. maybe it would work. but ----. since everyones saying no try it anyway. test the capability to cool charge air. with that vs a normal tube and fin intercooler.

I dont know if I wanna test it, lol if I do I'll get flamed, I dont see why air wouldnt move through it fast enough though, but I think i'm just going to stick with a Probe intercooler for now untill I can get something better, but ---- it really, I'm getting a better job soon and am going to maybe buy another LS motor and build an LS VTEC with ITB's, i've always wanted to build one is these, i'm not going to put more money in to this car anymore since next summer i'm getting an EK civic hatch.

heat pipe only works because they have a special liquid and a crystal inside the pipe that evaporates and cycles back ndown to exchange heat. this thing will not work as an intercooler, but it would work hella great as an air to water intercooler or an oilcooler infact.

I think youre on to somethig Kain, How many oil coolers do you think I can make out of that? and what should the dimensions be?

What is so comical about my statement? :P I was being serious, I might as well make several oil coolers out of it rather than throw it away..

hey just found someone how is able to make some by his own. I just bought one for 50$ nice size and values completelly new.Don't forget it's home made so don't try to encourage uncustom guy.

respect hmt for their nice work O0 >:D

you can make one oil cooler out of it. only one.

1. in order to split that into more than 1 cooler you're going to have to weld alot of u bends to the pipes after you cut them in half.

2. PC coolers, as cool looking as they are, are just ridiculous. Heat pipes and what not are an invention because intel doesn't know how to make cpu run cool, and fast, like AMD.

yeah they do. but when you push the mhz it creats more heat.

they are starting to realise now that mhz is different from pure brute force processing power. kinda like the ppc processors and risc processors.

risc processors have amazingly small heatsinks. mainly because they are low on mhz, but they are amazingly good at processing.

it just depends.

what i would suggest you do is hook up some somputer fans to it, hook it up to some oil lines, and stuff it in the bumper somewheres.
