How does UPS delivery work in the US?
 

I have a package arriving in the states, now lets say the owner of the house is not there to sign for it, he gets 3 shots right? what happens next, does the package get sent back to the company or does it get left at the nearest post office where the owner will be notified and package will have to be signed for at the post office?

Normally it gets sent to a drop off center. I've never recieved to a house address, but I have friends that do it all the time. YOu might have to drive across town to the UPS Store or such Martin.

I dunno, it depends on which UPS service you use. UPS leaves stuff on my doorstep all the time, with no-one to sign for it. I have a house as well.

I'm not sure but judging by the adress this guy lives in an appartment, so I doubt they wanna leave it there. can he just leave a note to send it to the nearest post office where he usually picks stuff up?

At my old apartments when UPS would ship there, they would usually leave it at the front office if I wasn't home. Since UPS and the Postal Service are separate, they would send it to the nearest UPS distribution facility--if they send it back. You can check to see whether it was delivered or sent back by checking the UPS website and tracking the package.

I agree with Will, i used to help manage some apartments, and if a tenent wasnt home thats where the package was left

Sometimes they will leave stuff with a neighbor as well. Though they seem to be pressured to get in and out of their trucks as fast as possible these days so they might not take the time to do that anymore.

Usually if I have stuff shipped to my house, they just leave it unless the shipper required a signature. When I lived in an apartment, they would leave it at the front office like others are saying.

no i work at ups and they leave a note to pick up at whatever address they put on there to your local ups and if you live in a house they will leave it at your doorstep. unless you are a buisness then they require a signature.
