How do I ship a motor?

If i were to ship a block? what shipping company is best to use? and how do i need to package it? is there any special stuff about shipping a motor or is it the same as anything else? also, how much does it cost approximately?

I have found that FedEx is the cheapest. They are kinda picky about how you pachage them, especialy if you want insurance. Pack it very secure and brace the corners. Make sure it can't bust out of the box and make sure the box can hold the weight. It cost me around $50 to ship a B7 from AZ to GA. Most D series shortblocks weigh around 100 pounds depending on what is included.

Huh? Did you read it? ??? From Arizona to Georgia. :P I think at most it would be around $75 depending on where you are shipping to.

Yeah, I use Fedex as well. I always use the thickest cardboard box I can find, sometimes two. Get a big piece of styrofoam (sp) and cut pieces out to brace everything in the box. Bam, I'll show you how to do it this weekend, I gotta ship that A6.

If you have a whole engine (or something heavy) get it strapped to a pallet and drop it off at a shipping company like Forward Air (www.forwardair.com) or somthing. Ive shipped whole wheels/tires ($49), engines, even motorcycles from ny to LA for less than $200. Its weight based and youd have to pick it up from their location near you but its hella cheap.
