Re: how do i remove glass
there is nothing wrong with the glass. why replace it.
u can make any car into a show car if u want no matter if its a honda. |
Re: how do i remove glass
show car.. :3 :3..
its ok.....no not really Well even thought no one will ever see it if you take it out and paint it or not....... the only way I can think of it maybe working it by heating up the silicone/sealer/glue/whatever the hell it is with a heat gun to get it soft again, then prying it away gently. Call a window replacement place, some of those go to junyards and get used windows, if they are nice they might tell you how they do it.... But why :3 :3 :'( :'( :8 |
Re: how do i remove glass
wow that is going to be SAW-WHEAT, a civic show car!? that hasnt been played out at all... oh wait, yes... yes it has... ;D
why not just build a car for you, that you can actually drive, and not some trailer queen. I have to agree with visualblur, if this is going to be a true show car, get new windows anyway, if your worried about the cost of that, you shouldnt be building a show car, because that is not a cheap hobby, and if you are planning to take the budget route, I hope you dont actually intend on winning any shows... |

Re: how do i remove glass
just dont remove the glass.. mask it with some masking tape and newspaper or whatever.. paint it.. then take a razor blade and clean it.. its that ------- simple.
|
Re: how do i remove glass
Also if its going to be a show car, dont paint it yourself.. If its going to a shop, I hope they are capable of taking them out theirselves if thats what you ask them to do. If not i suggest a new shop...

Re: how do i remove glass
Yeah there was no answer that I heard was correct. You can't heat up the urathane. You have to cut it out. You can go down to the body shop and get the tool for it but it won't be long enough so you will have to use a knife or the best way is to pay to have it done. Because most likely you will break the window. Thats why window shops charge $75 an hour. But that shouldn't take them that long. And yeah if you want a show car have everyone else do everything for you. You might win something.

Re: how do i remove glass
its more show and go. as for someone doing it for me it would cost to much i rather learn all i can. o i am not planing to win anything. i want it to be the way i want it not what someone else wants.
i want to take it out so i dont have to pay someone the BIG BUCKS. i am not going to paint the shop is they said if i do all the prepwork like sand and remove any moldings glass, ect. that the cost would be $1168 if they have to doo all the work its $ 3221. tell me which would u want to pay. just by buy and building my turbo LS vtec i got $4000 in to it. i am hopeing to hit 400 hp wont know till all the body work is done. |
Re: how do i remove glass
Take the black trim piece out from around the window and you're good. There's no need to pull out the window, because after you pull that trim piece there's gonna be a ton of room to paint back there and when you put the trim back in (or buy a new one) you'll never see it, even if you tried to lift up the edge of the trim and look, you still wouldn't see it.

Its a special air tool made for glass removal on autos. If you're anywhere near zip 19335 you can come by my shop and use mine. |
Re: how do i remove glass
Well than put steaming hot piano wire through it and cut it like butter. :8

Re: how do i remove glass
on the 94 the black molding is ruber and its wraped aronud the glass the gulass needs to come out to take out the molding.
|
Re: how do i remove glass
That's what I thought about the 97, it looked like that, but it doesnt go all the way around. The rubber had a channel in the middle where the glass went into, but the side inside was shorter than the side outside. So it was being held by the glass, but it can be taken out. Well at least on the 96-00. I would think yours is the same. That should give you plenty of room to paint.
