How do I merge a hard disk partition?
I just dropped in a 2nd harddrive (20gig used).
It has two partitions on it though. One partition is 11gigs(main) and the other is 9gigs(secondary). Using the disk management tool (1st time) i was able to "unallocate" the smaller partition but how do I merge the two into 1 drive? Thanks ;D |
Re: How do I merge a hard disk partition?
Find a 95 or 98 windows boot disc, a floppy disc... Go into DOS mode and type the letter of your drive semicolon and then slash then type FDISC. Delete your primary dos and logical drives on the hard drive letter that you want. Then recreate a primary partition. It's pretty self-explanatory once in the menus.

^^ thats if you don't care about the data on the drive. Otherwise you need partition magic which would be the easiest way.

Re: How do I merge a hard disk partition?
Are they both formatted the same?
fat 32 fat 16 ntfs ? if so http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing...titioning.html I'd never tell someone to do this, but you could potentially use a program such as Limewire to download the program and use it accordingly. ;) |
Re: How do I merge a hard disk partition?
screw that do what johhny said.
copy all the data u want to your other drive and in disk management delete both partitions then repartition is as 1 large partition then copy the data back take you like 5 min tops. |
Re: How do I merge a hard disk partition?
Thanks for the help guys. I used Disk Manager to delete the primary partition. When I did that it automatically merged the two unformatted partitions to one. A quick format later Im ready to go.
Now to start moving my porn on there... :y Thanks again. |
