How do i install a vtec light?

Ya Ya.. i know.. rice.. but it feels like it is only going from 4800 rpm to 7000 rpm... it should be working all the way up to 8000 right? Well.. whats the safest and easiest way to do this?

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

find the vtec wire and put in a bosch 12v relay.

i will draw you up a diagram give me a minute.

that should do the trick.

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

the vtec wire is a (+) power source (isn't it)...so why the need for the relay?

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

a realay for a vtec light. wtf.. i thought all u need is a 12v led light u can get one from a auto parts store.. or radio shack... and just hook the power wire from it to the vtec wire and blahdow!! light comes on when vtec does!!

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

i duno what kinda of light your using..
an led 12v would work fine but if its any kind of power drawing light.. it could drop the voltage on the vtec wire when it turns on..

plus what voltage is the vtec wire 12v? or is like some funky voltage..

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

VTEC is a 12V+ when on. And if you tap the wire (do not cut it) it will not affect the voltage.

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

dont cut the wire.. hmmmmmm what if u did a mini swap and the vtec doesnt even goto the ecu.. just to the v-afc or the rpm switch wichever way u went.. :) i got the vafc and i hooked the led 12v light to the wire with the afc..

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

That works:) But you just need to wrap the wire around the VTEC lead out of the ECU if you don’t have a VAFC.

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

yea if i had a vtec ecu id just use splice thing on it.. clamp it down lock it over.. getttttterrr done!!

hey shortyz if you could figure out a way to wire up a led to the knock senser that would be awsome.

The knock sensor is always giving off signals to the ECU. It is like a noise sensor, and the ECU will simply filter the small noise and only back the timing off when it sees the large spikes. So a light hooked up will be on all the time unless you had a circuit which would only come on if it reached a certain voltage.

my electronics is hella weak. hah
ill try to figure something out.

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

hey beau. i need to know what voltage the knock sensor is reading at idle and ----..

and also whats the voltage when it "knocks"

thanks

When the engine runs it pulses. I will get my meter and get what you need to make the light.

see what i was thinking is a set of maybe ten leds green on one end red on the other sorta like those led a/f guages but instead it goes in to the red with it get a voltage spike and just hovers around in the green the rest of the time. shortyz i know you can do it. :)

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

now what would be realy cool is if you wired up your washer lights to turn on when VTEC was engaged :o

Bwahahahahahaha

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

That would be a great idea :o

Seeing how the DIY air/fuel gauges are like this
http://www.students.tut.fi/%7Eeppu/l...re/EGO-bar.gif

It doesnt seem like a far stretch to modify it to handle the voltage outputs of the knock sensor right?

Jhil: Your AEM EMS lets you datalog right? What are the typical hi/low voltage outputs on the knock sensor?

Something like this would prove to be a great tuning aid.

wtf. wanna go more ghetto, tap into the green(i think) and white wire on the vtec solenoid and run it to the light. once current is in there it will light up your ricer vtek cause it ownzjoo

Re:How do i install a vtec light?

ok, back to the beginning., you said it feels like vtec is from 4800 - 7000 only? Are you saying this because it feels like its not making as much power after that? If its a b16a w/o turbo you should know it makes peak power at 7200 and drops off after that ;)
