how deep for stitches?

I dropped a jar on my ------- toe and sliced the fucker open pretty good...id take a pic but that would require taking off the mound of regular-sized bandaids that are on it. Anyway, if i can hold this bitch together with a few normal bandaids it should be ok right?

Super glue, or J-B weld. Give it a couple hours if it Keeps opening up when you walk you'll need some stitch.

I have used super glue a number of times, burns a lot going on, but is as good as liquid stitches, I have even used it on my head, when I was out camping and stood up into a rather sharp rock. :8

Re: how deep for stitches?

I was drunk and trying to pry open a bottle with a knife, cut to the bone across the top of the knuckle of my middle finger, lightly nicking the tendon. I really really needed stitches, never got any, kept ------- with the over the counter medicinal liquid skin "superglue" that is sucky - just skip right to the good stuff. The thing took forever to heal because it was on a joint, and the cartiledge around the joint formed a LOT of scar tissue so it was knobby looking for about a year after - fully functional, somewhat stiff and I had maybe 85% normal range of motion.

Probing it now (5 years later) I can barely detect any excess cartiledge although I still have a burly scar, I have full range of mobility, and it doesn't bother me in cold/wet or anything. If I had to go through it again I'd have gone to a cheap clinic (avoid hospital, etc, where the bill is $$$$ for walk in prompt service) and had them pop a couple staples in. I spent a LOT of time ------- around keeping it closed... my cut was a little longer than JESUS' and laid right over the top/inside of my knuckle where movement really fucked with it and kept breaking it open. The biggest thing about a deep cut like that is the possibility of infection, and I was REAL lucky. Keeping the wound clean and held closed is imperative for quick and troublefree healing.

Lop that bitch off with a pair of dikes. It doesn't sound like it's doing you any good anyway. If you need a local anesthetic; lmk as I have the hook-up on doctor supplies.

Go to the doctor and get it stitched up. Tell them it hurts so bad you can barely walk on it and get some pain pills. Pop a few loratabs with a few shots and you'll feel gold. I remember when I cut my palm open down to the bone. Was about a 2.5" slash a good inch open. The "meat" from inside my had was flopped outside. I was just looking at it thinking "ah ----, that looks kind of cool". Everyone else was freaking out. It was at work and they made me sit in a wheel chair and roll me around till someone gave me a ride to the hospital (company policy forbid me to drive). The dumb ass manager on duty put cotton balls on it and wrapped it up. Cotton balls + open wounds = a big no no. It took them forever to pick all the little pieces of cotton out of it. Ended up getting 4 stitches inside and 4-5 outside.

My oldest son's mom(certifiable crazy bitch) threw a die cast toy train car at me one time...caught me right above my left eye splitting my eyebrow clean open. It bled like a m'fucker, but when I finally got it to stop bleeding I could literally see my skull. It was that deep and probaly a quarter to a half an inch long. I wasn't working at the time and didn't have any health insurance, so I pressed that bitch together the best I could, and put a band-aid across it as TIGHT AS POSSIBLE. I still have a scar but it healed up really well. Scarface ftw.

No loss there. You aren't the sort of guy women are with because they think you are pretty.

Re: how deep for stitches?

Looking at the pics and being a medic, from the looks just make sure you keep it very clean and irrigate it with preferably sterile water. If you did'nt get stiches or in your case they would have almost CERTAINLY used dermal glue (jb weld for lacerations) within 4/6 hours then they will not benifit you unless the wound continues to reopen. it will heal regardless, any kind of sutures, glue, or anything used to keep that kind of cut closed is also asthetic based, meaning makes the scar smaller.

throw some dirt on it, suck it up and drive on hoooha! ;)
