Re:how to clean CF hood?

i heard from a friend that if you paint a carbon fiber you can run into problems and have it fade before the rest of the car... i dont know if it is true or not... but the uv protection that is supposed to be on there to begin with messes with the paint.. just something you might want to check into before you slap on some paint.

i would just sand it a little and get it recleared.. and see how that works out

don`t paint it .
go to autozone, they have these clear prime for like 3 bucks a can, spray couple layer of those, sand it down a bit, then use their $3 dollar top clear coat :P, again spary couple layers, sand it down a little then do a final one.
yea, i know, sounds worst than parking lot bodyjobs :-X but we`ve been doing it at the place i work at for a while, they use it on carbon fiber body parts when it does not came with clear coats.

i have a carbon fiber hood too. guess what? i bought it from someone local, paid a little bit more for it, but no fading ,nothing wrong with it at all. i have had it for over a year. I told my buddy i bought it off of that if the clear came off i was going to shove it up his stupid ass. he must have believed me. so "you get what you pay for"

I had no idea the clear coat came off of those. I bet it is because when they put the UV protection on them they don't sand them down to accept the clear. The resin that is in the Carbon Fiber is still to smooth to adhere to the clear. Thats what I know from making molds.

I notice some CF hoods have that yellowih gold tint to them and others are just solid black. Have you guys noticed that? Is there a difference? I have a goldish tint on mine
