How can I get a title for an abandoned car?
 

Basically I received a '94 Acura Integra without a motor for free. I've checked with the title & tag agency, and it was last registered in Tennessee. Since it's not FL registered, they can't do anything but give me a # for TN.

so I call Tennessee tag & title agency.. basically they said I could get a lawyer and work it out that way with a judge (screw that. I asked how liens work, and she said a shop could put a lien against the car for abandonment and obtain the title that way, but a contract would need to be made with the shop, right?

How can I make this work??

Na you just go and file for an abandoned title. Just say it was left on your property and you can't find the owner. Will give you a bunch of paper work to fill out blah blah. They or you will have to contact the last registered owner, if they decide they want it (since it is theirs according to the DMV) tell them it will be $10 a day for the past 90 days, bet they'll change their mind.

you should be able to get a bonded title i think there not cheap but if its worth the cash and there are no liens on the car that would need to be paid the ---- it

the DMV/title agency is telling me there's nothing they can do.. they said I need to get a lawyer and take the owner to court.
they are not allowed to give me his information, hence a lawyer is needed to settle this.

I'm just going to title the fucker with a parted shell

^ The DMV is full of ----. You don't need a lawyer to get a abandoned title. They can't give you the info to a person, but you can file for a abandoned title and they will have to notify the last registered owner.

Try calling up the police and tell them someone abandoned a car on your property and see if they will look it up for you.

the last owner purchased the car, and lost his copy of the title.. he tried to get the title from the owner with no luck. once he decided it wasn't possible he just sold the motor out of it and decided to give the car away as parts. so I got the car for free, with nearly full interior, clean body and low mile suspension. I've found the guy through digging across the web and he lives in Clearwater, fl now.. I have his myspace and trying to offer him money for his time to get the title.. what a friggin mess.

carfax doesn't give any actual info on the owners.. just the car

Shops can get titles no problem.
