Hood Pins

Where did you guys mount them on you 88-91 civic or crx? Im trying to find a good spot for mine that wont ---- with the headlights and shizz. And how did you mark them on the hood so you could drill a " perfect " hole?

Re: Hood Pins

Last time I helped with hood pins, we marked it with a permanent marker.

Re: Hood Pins

Where did you put them? That bracket that holds the headlights?

Re: Hood Pins

I didn't do them on a Honda, that was on a Camaro.

Re: Hood Pins

are you having a problem with your car being to fast that your stock hood latch cant keep the hood down :-\

Re: Hood Pins

I personally don't see a real problem with hood pins, it adds an extra sense of security. I'd never get them but thats just me.

Re: Hood Pins

i'd only use them on a CF hood, only because it seems like its hit or miss on whether or not the latch is secured to the hood :3

Re: Hood Pins

The hood, for some reason doesnt sit all the way down. And sometimes the latch un-latches itself while on the road. So it is, as said... for extra sence of security.

Re: Hood Pins

hood pins = not rice for a fiberglass or cf hood. I had one break my winsheild and dent my roof

Re: Hood Pins

I've been running a CF hood without pins for months now, no problems. I highway drive everday. I've gone 190km/h and the hood barely wobbles. I'm thinking I'll get it done just to be safe though. :l

Re: Hood Pins

haha, you went old school with lines coming off the side. I'd like them with just a pin, though. Also, don't remove your stock latch, it would be way too easy for someone to get your hood open and have a field day :l

agreed, you should fix your stock latch before you put the pins in if you have anything worth wild in your bay

Re: Hood Pins

when i did mine there were two rubber pieces on the hood so that it wouldn't vibrate against the radiator support and i just took those out and drilled where they were.

Re: Hood Pins

The easiest way to mark the hood (after the pins are installed) is to use bubble gum or something similar to stick on the inner hood approximately where the pin will pass through. Then close the hood to put an impression in the clay, open the hood then use a punch where the impression is to mark your hole. BTW for some reason on my civic install, my pins are somewhat angled toward the rear to allow for the hood to open and close without touching. I did this by tapping on them with a mallet.

Anyone use those locking hood pins? I though about getting them and removing the rad support to free up some room...
