no i didnt but out of sight out of mind right? im just stating the fact that ive never had a problem using it the way it is, im sure there is some kind of build up in the passages but nothing to worry about as far as cooling concerns it still cools just like the day i bought it... not saying it wont hurt it 40 years down the road but as of right now i see no poblem continuing doing so... thanks for the info though. you learn something everyday

actually it wasnt on my ase test it changes years to year ie to follow the auto industry only question i remember is the proper ratio to mix the antifreeze as, even that varies some with where you live at. ok perfect example lady bought a new car and has had it for 5 years we the shop i work at have done brakes and the like on it but never any motor maintence which is wierd well the other week she comes in with here car on a tow truck only 89k on the car, motor doesnt run well after ther break down the coolant passes were pluged with scale and the3 water pump was solid block of ---- why cause here husband put straight antifreeze in it cost here 2900 for a rebuild

W0rd, but it wouldn't compression test good with a cracked anything right? Car got towed home and Dad went to work: Perfect compression, Anti-freeze was tested/rated (something you can do to test it) to -40*. It wasn't -40*.

Any other guesses? I'm a little low on oil too, so honestly my two guesses are a cracked sleeve (which I thought compression would die) or it's leaning towards valve seals.

do a coolant system pressure check and a hydrocarbon leak test, use a smoker for any other leak ie... vacuum

Nothing cools better than straight water.

Antifreeze has a fuckton of surface tension, makes it hard to reach all the tiny nooks and crannies inside the cooling jacket, and can actually cause overheating once uncooled hotspots really get cooking.

actuall ur wrong you can add salt to water to make it cool better, the other stuff is correct

No, I am correct. Water cools far far better than antifreeze.

Putting salt in water is seeking out electrolysis, that's ------- stupid.

not what i stated, yes water cools better then antifreeze, you can add salt to water and its cooling propertys increase, electrolysis only acurres if you let it

The only way to avoid electrolysis that I know of in such a setup is a sacrificial anode. The last ones I saw were for old Alfas, everyone else apparently knows how to change their coolant periodically. :1

Also, electrolysis of salt water is going to yield hydrogen, chlorine gas, and sodium hydroxide. sodium hydroxide and water is an exothermic reaction. More heat than what you started with! Although, its not going to happen on a fast enough to matter.
