Honda-tech TOTYE (Thread of the year edition)

never having drivin a vtec honda but somewhat knowledgeable in its workings. there is regular lift then it goes into vtec which is just a higher lift/longer duration at a factory predetermined rpm. i assume they run the motor to redline at regular lift and then with vtec engaged and see where the power curves cross and then activate it there? so i would assume there is no benefit?

i think the exhuast is better because it dosent require fuel management to work and still give a good hp gain :8

one time i told a guy that if he wants his vtec louder and to kick harder then he should take it to be ported and polished, got a few people mad at me for giving bad info lol. they really thought i was serious about it.

lol.. i remember when i was like 16 years old i was at the track and some guy was trying to tell me that he put a first gen b16 solenoid(bigger) on his gsr engine and he said his vtec kicked in WAAAAYYYY harder.. and ran faster at the track.
I sat there arguing with him for like 10 minutes on how this was just in his head.. he would never admit it... |

it was the night u raced those two civics...one benig imburne's.....ur super Vtacular Vtec kicked in......i was the dude that raced ur buddies stang w/ like 16 car lengths

I had a guy tell me I couldn't dump my BOV into the exhaust to keep it quiet because there was more backpressure (>10lbs) in the exhaust than there was coming out of the BOV.

One buddy that I work with (cook) tell me:
he - "You're not gonna install an atmopheric turbo??" me - "WTF? an atmopheric turbo doesnt exist!" he - "Yeah, yeah! In my region who I lived if you dont have a civic with neon and atmospheric turbo you're not in!" me - "I think you miss something about turbo man lol" I always dont know what he wanted to say. Maybe the ---- that only make noise of a turbo. |

Naturally Aspirated engine is always running at 14.7 Psi intake air pressure. Bah. |
