This is from the May 23, 2003 issue of the Indy Star:

The HI3R is Honda's First normally aspirated IndyCar racing engine. teams and drivers utilizing the Honda HI3R engine in the 2003 Indianapolis 500 include Andretti Green Racing with Micheal Andretti, Robby gordon, Dan Wheldon, and tony Kanaan; Super Aguri Fernandez Racing with Roger Yasukawa; and Team Rahal with former IRL series champion and Indy 500 race winner Kenny Brack

Honda Indy V-8 Engine HI3R Series

Type: Normally aspirated, fuel injected, aluminum alloy block V-8

Displacement: 3.5 liters (213.6 cubic inches)

Power: 650+ horsepower at 10,300 rpm (mandated by IRL elctronic limiter)

Engine Block: Aluminum alloy

Crankshaft: Stell alloy

Pistons: Forged aluminum alloy

Connecting Rods: Machined alloy steel

Management Systems: Motorola / Zytek ignition

Fuel: Methanol

Toyota Indy V-8 Engine HI3R Series

Type: Toyota Indy V-8, naturally aspirated, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, fuel injected

Displacement: 3.5 litres (213.6 cubic inches)

Power: 675+ hp Maximum RPM: 10,300 (mandated by IRL electronic limiter)

Engine Block: Aluminum alloy

Crankshaft: Forged steel alloy

Pistons: Forged aluminum alloy

Connecting Rods: Forged steel alloy

Management Systems: Denso fuel and ignition system

Fuel Methanol
