it was a fun car but it didn't take well to punishment hahaha. I think I read somthing about vw having a recall on some of their trannies because of of the pop rivet holding the spider gear in place shearing off or somthing. meh I sold the VW long ago cuz it was to expensive to keep fixing the damn thing, that's why I got tha honda

wasnt a recall....but it was a problem, they (the VW community) call it SMS (self machining syndrome)... the diff pin machines at the case till it pokes threw and breaks a big *** chunk of tranny off with it and usually spews oil onto the clutch and ----... big wheels usually speed up the SMS process...
but this looks to be just ~14years of use and a year of getting rapped at the end
think there is a theory on the diff pin bending and locking the spider gears then shooting them out the side like pictured... might be while my car was soo good at laying two stripes for 30 feet...
