just wondering if anyone has thought about ------- around with a junkyard supercharger like one off of a mr2.

Re: homemade supercharger?

Re: homemade supercharger?
As long as you not talking honda because they turn counterclockwise so you supercharger would be a sweet vacume ;)
|
Re: homemade supercharger?
Spinning backwards they still make boost. Talk to Mista Bone about the AKSC. But yeah I've been thinking about a M60'd d-series, and later on an M90'd b-series. Should be fun.

There's a minivan that comes supercharged. Previa maybe? I heard those are good SC's to start with.

FYI highroller54, 10 psi of boost is still 10 psi of boost. Able to be intercooled using a normal FMIC. You lose about 10% effeiciency spinning it backwards though. |

Re: homemade supercharger?
you could just make some unit to spin it the correct way. out of some old cam gears and come crank pullys

All Vortech needs to do, build a reverse setup and be done. To hell with the gokart shaft which Vortech "stole" from a SOHC setup a LONG time ago. Oh yeah, were only at 11k blower rpm, not even close to the 14k safe rpm or 16k rpm critical rpm. 46 mpg or 10 psi of boost, just a flick of the switch away! |
Re: homemade supercharger?
Bone,
Someone posted pics of a homemade SC setup with a magnetic clutch over on the Endyne boards a while back(when they were still all yellow). Was that the AKSC? Do you have a link? I'm curious as to how it was put together. |
Re: homemade supercharger?
i've thought of this awhile back.. then i smoked a cigerrete and said ---- it ill just get a 60/63 ;D
|
Re: homemade supercharger?
that would be Tim who posted it over there LONG time ago.
The supercharger itself is a off the shelve unit. The bracket and the valve are the custom parts. With my bracket a custom header will be needed also. |
Re: homemade supercharger?
I don't care which way you turn the fucker, the air will NEVER go through the middle unless you have no seals.
|
Re: homemade supercharger?
HAve you ever seen how a Eaton M case blower seals the lobes?

I've never had first hand experience with the SC12, but numerous people on Club4ag find that it's not a very efficient supercharger. How on earth did you get 18 psi out of it? Custom pulley? Most boost I've heard of was about 13-14 from a Cusco pully. |
Re: homemade supercharger?
I'm guessing either a Nevo (175mm) or a Diabolique (176mm) pulley and a later model SC12.
|
Re: homemade supercharger?
Tommy AKSC del Sol on the dyno................
stock was 108 whp, AKSC on was 165 whp......... running fat on 440 injectors, a very safe tuned for 7-8 psi non intercooled. http://www.bettendorf.com/~mrbone/pi...mmy%20dyno.mov |
