Re: homemade jet engine
that's safer than NERF.

Re: homemade jet engine
looks like they have a decent setup. Curious as to what fuel was used...i'm assuming propane

Re: homemade jet engine
umm...i want one

Re: homemade jet engine
Make one dude...it's not too difficult. Hardest part is sustaining a flame. Constructing a proper combustion chamber.

Re: homemade jet engine
how in the hell? that is badass :y

Re: homemade jet engine
Thas awsome that turbo was making some crazy noises.
|
Re: homemade jet engine
I've always wanted to build one of those, haven't seen one with a turbo that large before which is awesome.

Re: homemade jet engine
crazy, not sure how thats working but badass none the less. someone care to explain it? :1

Re: homemade jet engine
i've never actually seen anyone who's built one of these rape the ---- out of it. that's sweet.

Re: homemade jet engine
Instead of bolting your turbo to an engine, you build a combustion chamber than burns whatever fuel you make available, usually through the valve on your tank.

Re: homemade jet engine
jet engines operate on what's know as the Bernoulli Principle. To keep it simple you use a combination of the turbo and a convergent/divergent duct to control the velocity and pressure of the air. Its compressed, while maintaining velocity, slowed down, mixed with fuel and ignited, and then sped back up and "blown" onto the exhaust wheel of the turbo. They have essentially built a common aircraft APU ( auxiliary power unit). They don't make tons of thrust, but still flow alot of air. Really, it's just stupid loud and fun to play with.

Re: homemade jet engine
I went to school in ireland for a semester and we worked with a setup just like that in one of our thermodynamics labs.

Re: homemade jet engine
rofl, they used a glasspack for a funnel
