Homemade Intake Air Temp Gauge
Alright I was going to buy an Autometer intake air temp gauge until I seen it was 200 ----------ing dollars. I want to experiment with the efficiency to size of different intercoolers + water injection + different size dry shots of nitrous. Now I know theres got to be a way to make a gauge to monitor intake air temp and display it in the car. I want something fairly accurate but 100% percision is not necessary.
Any ideas, suggestions or inputs are appreciated. |

A meat thermometer stuck in to a charge pipe and a bunch of mirrors so you can see it. ;D I'm sure the tech geeks around here can come up with something

Re:Homemade Intake Air Temp Gauge
If you have a Harbor Freight nearby, they've got some indoor/outdoor temp read outs for cheap. If you have some moderate soldering skill, you may be able to modify it for two external temp probes.

Re:Homemade Intake Air Temp Gauge
Yeah but how fast of a response could one of those be? I mean the readings are going to be totally different between full boost and just cruising. And your only under full boost for a few seconds so if it is not going to display the temperature change under full boost there's no point.
Digital is definitely the way to go it also needs to have a probe that I could weld or thread into the charge pipe |
