homemade CRX gauge pillar

Just wanted to see what you guys think of my gauge pillar. The one shown is just a prototype, I know the gauges are a bit high. I have another one with them centered, I was just anxious to wrap this one and try it out. Looks stock, I was thinking of putting a turbo timer in there as well, just below the gauges.

looks good man. so what did you use to do it?

Re:homemade CRX gauge pillar

Plexigalss -2.00
1 yard black vinyl -6.00
3M adhesive spraym -free

One yard of vinyl is alot, I used the rest to patch up my roof that had tears in it.

that looks good man, the turbo timer would be a cool idea also.

Re:homemade CRX gauge pillar

yeah, definitely looks good. i definitely think a turbo timer below the gauges would be sweet.

the civic center vent thing is different, I took out the whole piece and my tv fit's perfectly in there, then the cords run out the back where the heating/cooling unit was. fez didn't do as good as I did with placement.

Re:homemade CRX gauge pillar

That looks nice. I wanna know exactly how you did it. did you use the factory panel and just cut most of it out and lay the plexi on top? or something different? I really like that Idea opposed to my gauges hanging in the window. :P

Nah
This piece is all original. I'm thinking about mass producing these units, interested in carring them in product line up Steve ::)

I'm still working on them, maybe I'll do a write up. The only thing left to tackle is actually mounting it, which has become the only issue left, piece of cake.

did you get like 45 hp out of the steering wheel? I notice the shift knob is at an angle, is that to help during cornering?

Re:homemade CRX gauge pillar

the tv is for the bottom end power, then the remote start helps with mid range and the playstation takes over the top end where the bov finishes her off during the shift.

Ok, this isn't an item that would sell. This is an item that anyone can look at and duplicate. I'm just wanting to know the way you did it, so I don't have to think before I do it. ???

LOL i like how you snuck the turbo timer on the a/c control :P
(at least i think that's a turbo timer)

that's a nice little unit you made there number and number man :P, and i second you sendin' the prototype to renr, not saying his isn't a work of art (but i'm not saying it is either :P, then again, i probably woulda done it like renr, my ass is lazy!

TurboTibby 03-20-2004 06:36 AM

Re:homemade CRX gauge pillar

I think RENR did it for practicality. It was pretty smart of him to leave some room so he gets some air going through those vents in case he gets hot or cold :P

---- manG. you already hacked up the controls, atleast you could have drilled a hole for the wire ;)

nah MANG! the cuntrols arent messed up. the wires for the timer and afc are just coming out of the back of the dash and layed on the front. at night time i just put the timer and afc away out of view. the controls hold up the timer perfectly. lol

actually the steering wheel came with the car but i believe its good for atleast 50 whp, however i'm not sure because there are no stickers. tilted shift knob definetly, definetly helps during cornering it makes me feel like i am drifting
