Home window tinting?

Has anyone here done any home window tinting? I'm thinking about tackling this since it's hot as piss out and I like the dark (my room faces the sun rise). What product method do you suggest?

Good luck... everyone's 'homemade' job I have seen looked like a herpes filled -------... lots of bubbles.

I have yet to see a GOOD homemade tint... I would love someone to show me otherwise.

I've done window tinting for years. The problem that you're going to run into is finding a supplier of good film. Yeah, I did a couple of my beaterz in wal-mart film, but for your house you're going to want something better.

Someone find me a supplier of good film in 40" rolls and I'll do a write up. Houses are easy as ----, but I'll do the car writeup too.

i've bought some film from concord window films a couple times.
i'm not sure how "good" their film is, but it's worked for me.

Go to a skateboard shop, and get some stuff called "Grip Tape" Get enough to cover the window completley.

Or go to a hobby shop and get some window tint spray paint they use for RC cars.

I tinted my daughters bed room.

it does NOT really help with the heat though, it did help cool it by a couple degrees, it was more because of the light that comes into her room while she is taking a nap.

when i was working the midnight shift a number of years ago, i used reflective window tint, that helped a keep it cool a LOT more than just regular window tint.

the stuff we used for my daughters room is my 30% tinted black clear vinyl.

when i worked grave yard i put alum foil in my windows, that ---- was bad ass.
and 30% tinted black clear vinyl is not window tint. it's clear vinyl with some tint to it.

flat windows are cake, just make sure to get EVERYTHING out from under the film. compound curve rear windows ftl.

+1 on the good supply. i hate when the cheap window tint tears. PS. pre-fitment is a must on cars. it will save you LOTS of time to get it trimmed up perfect before you put it in
