in the plumbing section,I don't know exact names of pieces,but if it looks right it must be. Don't forget to glue everything together.
one of the ends gets glued shut the other is left unglued so that you can unscrew it,here is where you spay the hair spray into.

pfft just use propane and pressurized air
also, you get a better shot when you spray the ---- in throuigh the barrel, then push the potato. it compreses the mixture and makes it go up considerably.

That's cool. I made one the other day for my cousin. Fucker was 6 feet long and shot 2 blocks. What made you use that reduced T as a combustion chamber? wouldda worked better if you just used a 4" straight pipe with a reducer.

This is the ultimate potato gun. this is a one of a kind.


story time, my buddies and i were really into potato guns back in the day, and we could never figure out how to get around using an igniter and a flamable substance. his dad was a plumber so we had access to LOTS of useless pipes and ----. we made a gun that used air instead of flamables. bacially make it the same way, but put a valve in there, and on the holding tank, put a valve stem. we have went nuts with these, put gauges and all kinds of ----. our furthurest shoot was about a half a mile. 100-125psi in a small chamber will launch a potato far as hell. I made this one when i was home for christmas, we had about $10 in the entire thing. i was gonna make a write up, but we forgot the camera, and were to excited to wait to make it. :P anyways here it is...

now the best part about it is, you can fill the tank up, and use it whenever. you also know exactly when shes gonna fire. you dont have to keep clickin and ----. this one is a little different, -with the inlet, but its all we had. it worked though.

the bigger the chanber the more hiar spray it will hold that = to more pressure, further the launch.(goes as far as the eye can see)

thats mine. electronic firing, 2" accumulator, 1/2" breech load barrel. Max you can get with hairspray is like 15psi, i ran 120psi.

im thinking of selling it since i havent used it in 2 years.

I made a gun that shoots tennis balls, much more fun because they are round and get a good seal, they get a bit fried do to heat tho.

My next one will be one that shoots golf balls, they are really cheap and will cause some damage to targets.

that valve you are using sucks, get a butterfly, you also need a bigger air tank foo.


we use to steal all the parts from the local contruction site for our hairspray type ones, picuture a shop vac with a barrel coming out of it, thats the size of the last one I built, I took it to school in grade 9 for a science project, lol. It was raped in several layers of carpet incase it were to explode. The first couple times we shot it the bottom blew off and the hole gun shot a good 4 feet into the air. I had several ignition points inside the gun cause I was having problems with incomplete burns. The gun had so much power it would regularly blow the barrel right off the gun (break the abs plastic, lol) We experimented with different sized guns and barrels and there is pretty much a limit of about 2 city blocks with the hairspray types. we would have tried it with oxyacetalyne, but it would haver surely exploded.

You can get more distance out of the air powered ones, but the cost is higher since the electric butterfly valves you need are over 70 bucks for a small sized gun.

I've seen a couple truck mounted air powered guns with huge tanks that supposedly shoot over 2 miles. At this point you are no longer shooting potatoes but blocks of ice, lol.

actually it doesn't compress the air, it will leak through, or the potatoe will just uncompress it self (ie as soon as you push the spud in with your broom handle, then remove the broom handle, the spud will just move up the barrel and decompress) Propane is a good idea tho. 8)

get a bigger holding tank? you need to learn there littke buddy ;)

the bigger the holding tank, the more time it takes to get out. believe me, our best ones had small holding tanks. in that small tank, we put about 100-120psi.

and that valve works perfect to. but who knows, you said its not, so that must be right :-*

My old potatoe gun used to shoot close to a 1/4 mile, on hairspray. One new years my friend made a gun, and we'd stuff a rag in there, and then pour a bunch of pop pops on top of the rag, and shoot it a cars. Lol, that was some funny ----. Don't worry all the drivers were assholes, otherwise we wouldn't have shot them. And I love how slow-moe is shooting at his neighbors house.

we built one to shoot golf balls. it has a base and all. it was an engineering project for accuracy but it had too many descepancies(sp) in it. Anyways its pretty sweet. it used a hydrolic hose for air to travel thru. Could make a metal tank that way you could shoot up the pressure and not worry about exploding pvc conections.

the way it was you could load it with 75 psi and you wouldnt see the ball anymore. just woder what it would do to a thick piece of wood or somthing 8)
