Default Home made 1/4 Time idea

So i have this idea im pritty sure it will work but as with all high moment type ideas i wana run it by some hopyfully sober people (i know, wronge place to do that huh)

I was ------- around in my old subaru on some trails back in the day and i found this walking-wheel-foot-measuring-device. its like a wheel on a stick with a odometer i guess fell out of someones truck.

My idea:

Use the stick to measure a 1/4 and mark it in some type of very visable way

Set up the camera in my awesome hmt ductape/cardboard mount, And record a run starting at at the mark till after the mark, i figure maby something on the side of the road would be best to mark it, because...

Then you can go on your computer, watch the video and check the time you start and the time you pass the marker. some simple math and you should have a real world 1/4 mile.

For me personally this would solve a buncha problems:

1. only track is orlando and its full of rich kids, costs more then my boost controller and its so packed and it takes so long to run again my ---- allways cools down and it just sucks. Plus its like 40 miles away, can make for a bad night if you break.

2. Sticky *** track makes my ---- wheelhop and feel like its falling apart. Besides i want real world, street top times. the ones that realy matter to me when i wana take the rich kid down the streets money.

3. More runs = More practice = More fun and free

4. No 45 mile drive with a blown head gasket and just a 1 gallon gas can to hold water. not to mention rural roads with 50x more miquitos then people and far and few gas stations. Was not a fun night.

Anyone done this?

it makes sense i guess you would have to have the camera pointing straight down on your front bumper

tesla electronics, the G-Tech/Pro, got mine for $20 when i was in high school 6 years ago, this thing is OG, you can probably get em on ebay for a few bucks... there are a handfull of other accelerometer based hp/quarter-mile/0-60 devices available nowdays.
