Way to take on uncharted waters, that looked very clean! Nice work, to bad you didnt get a chance to make a video of the kia in action!

That's a great looking setup. That appears to be the KIA engine based off the Mazda FE-DOHC, which is a fantastic engine.

Yup, Kia's earlier engines were based from mazda and mitsu engines. The rods, block, pistons everything was really beefy in this bottom end. However the Thrust bearing was waayyyyyy to freaking small and once the heavy duty pressure plate with 6puk disc was installed @ 12psi it didnt last to long and we had crankwalk action. I replaced the engine and put a new engine in and turned the boost down.

I've been with the company since I was in high school, so.. 8 years. I've proved to my boss that I can do this stuff with my honda projects, so why couldnt we do a Kia? Plus the fact our dealership name is "Performance Kia" and there is nothing "performance" about it. So I figured hey why the hell not lets try it. Whats funny was my boss (the general manager of the store) didnt even tell the owner that we were doing this because he was afraid he might get upset. haha, overall it was a fun project and if I ever did another one it would be on the newer Spec5 with the 2.0l engine.

You would be suprised, we only have 2 techs per crew (2 crews) working three 13-15hr shifts, 1 hourly tech (5days a week). So with not many techs in the shop its pretty easy to make money. Example today was the 2nd best day I have ever done at flatrate. I worked 16.0 hours today and got 31.2 hours FR. We are starting to get lots of customer pay jobs, I did 4 timing belts today, plus with a few brake jobs, used cars and other misc ---- it works out pretty damn good.
