Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

actually im gonna spring for a set of Suzuki Vitara pistons and aftermarket rods. Vitara pistons handle about 15-20 psi and they have free floating wrist pins so you can use aftermarket D series rods with them with no modifications :)

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

did you trash the block?

DJ0820 05-20-2004 10:53 PM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

it has 2 holes in the front of it, one of them "I" shaped like the cross-section of a rod. it's neat

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

yeah, I would have been really suprised if that aluminum block could withhold those pistons flying apart.

HondaTuner 05-20-2004 11:10 PM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

now thats what i call bad management

DJ0820 05-20-2004 11:16 PM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

no, not bad management. try extreme engine load. the ring lands are perfect, so no severe detonation.

Ravage70 05-20-2004 11:18 PM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

well those are known to be the weakest engines

DJ0820 05-21-2004 12:13 AM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

the car wouldn't run. the sad thing is i only had the car running for like a week after it had sat since last august. and i only had the turbo on for less than 24 hours :'( but i still pulled hard on my friends modded supercharged vw g60 corrado 8)

hells yeah the suzuki pistons are cheap, some guy on honda-tech is selling them for $110 with a set of hastings rings.

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

I think thats what I am going to do once I blow my engine. Yeah you could fix that engine (jb weld) but why.

DJ0820 05-21-2004 01:08 AM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

no one fixes an engine with jb weld...actually that sounds like something i would do.

crxrx7 05-21-2004 01:17 AM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

I have seen it done. for some reason it works for a while. It would work on that hole. Just as a plug. You could do it just to see if it would work. The block was $40. Why not?

jake2001z001 05-21-2004 01:33 AM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

if ya get those vitra pistons and get aftermarket rods do u still gotta "notch the block" still havent even found out what that means anyways

PureCRXtasy 05-21-2004 08:54 AM

Re:HMT Style Engine destruction!

Any time you use aftermarket rods that are thicker than stock you should notch the block.

Block notching is just shaving a little bit off each side at the bottom of the cylinders so the larger rods don't come into contact with the edge of the cylinder wall at the bottom.

Here is a pic of what it looks like:

I have one.. it's in my engine bay.. it's not for sale ;)

I think Sinister is selling his though since he decided to save some furry woodland creature and fucked up his rex.
