hmt noob, turbo for a Jeep YJ

Ok

My name is Marty, and my soon to be project is installing my own turbo system on a 1993 YJ stock 4.0.

Im into rockcrawling and doing all the work on my jeep. Im not scared of a welder.

I just picked up a remanufactured garret T04. Pics and a new thread to come when I get it in the mail with all the specs and Maps of the turbo.

I will build my own duct work for this system. All custom, No big business store bought kits for this Heep.

So Im looking for the input and advice from this board when I get started. A similar build thread will be on Pirate4x4 as well.

Oh yea, Im working on a OBD1 ECM system.

Advice... Read the stickies in the Forced Induction forum. Read them again. And then read them a third time before asking questions. There are more than a handful of Jeep guys here, so any questions you eventually have will probably get answers. Oh yeah, and post pics of said ride and some porn images, not links. The natives don't like links

I've done alot of homework on this. Here is a link of the topic at Pirate4x4. Page 1 covers the mathmatics involved as I am sure all of you already know the math involved.

You paid over $400 for a turbo? I thought you wanted to do this cheap? :l Alot of people build their entire kit with less than that. :P

I'm a Heep owner, but mine will never see boost, but I probably make more power N/A than your 4.0 will make boosted. :6 Especially after reading how you only want to run ~4psi. :1

Well if you followed the thread I posted in post #3, It would make sense in seeing the route im going. By the way, I Have a crank and connecting rods sitten in the garage to go for a 4.7 liter stroker turbo'd. We all gotta start some where. what I picked up is a solid foundation to work off of.

If you didn't pick up on it. I know how to research and read and figure ---- out.

Any ways, a properly built N/A 4.0 is best at hitting 230 hp at the crank and 240 torque. A budget built 4.7 stroker is good for 240 hp and 310 torgue at the crank. NOW!: you throw in forged 8:1 C/R pistons, stand alone megasquirt, and its possible to see 350hp and 425 torque at the crank.

Just because Im a noob Here, don't mean im a :1

why don't you follow the thread in post #3 and educate your self of what is possible.

BTW, there is another guy on pirate4x4 building a 4.9 liter stroker with a turbo and should hit around 400HP and 500 torque at the crank. And all these numbers are reached below 5k RPM because these motors are stump pulling torque monsters :7

My goal in phase 1 is just get the system to work right at 5-6 psi and be reliable and help turn 40"+ swampers through the sand and the occasional HWY runs to get to the trail.

OK
