It took me 2 years before they actually let me start to work on the bikes at the harley dealer ,that and me finally buying one. You do have to be certified to get hired i know that ,they are sending me to school to become certified. Whos knows

I've been working at a Socal Honda dealer for almost 4 years now....mechanics do not set the prices!!! The thing I love about working there is all the free engines and parts. I've gotten several B16's and H22's over the years, the ones they replace under warranty. Usually it's something relatively minor like a fried ring or spun bearing and it's cheaper to replace the engine than to repair it, so they just put the engines in the back and I swoop on em. Also, get to know the parts people and find out when they throw away all their warrantied parts, I got a set of 00 prelude tailights last month and the only thing that was wrong was the rubber seal had a small tear in it, so they replaced BOTH tailights. I'm gonna sell em on ebay to some faggit ricer wanting to put them on his civic. There are also tons of ECUs thrown out each month, it's like a garage sale but everything's FREE!!!!

hey that reminds me of a story

One day a turkey was walking through a field when he saw an owl pick a field mouse up an fly to the top of a tree. the turkey was amazed and a couple days later he saw the owl on the ground so he walked up and said hey owl tell me how you are able to fly up so high and the owl said see that bull over in that pasture over there well he eats lots of corn and it doesnt digest so go follow him around and eat the corn out of his ---- for 31 days and it will make you strong enough to fly high like me so the turkey said okay and follow his directions at the end of the 31 days the turkey knew he was ready fly as high as the tree so he got a running start and took off and he flew 30 feet over the tree but just then a group of hunters saw him and shot him out of the sky now what is the moral of this story?

bullshit can get you to the top but it wont keep you there. in a shorter version i say, bullshit

That's why I advocate you work somewhere else besides the dealer as your first job. A small to medium sized independant shop will be getting your hands dirty and teaching you quicker. Nothing against working your way up like Jeff did, but I'd rather be learning as quick as possible.

hah thats cool if its true about the job man.

dealers are there to rip you off, thats their job. a dealer would never give you a deal or anything, even if they make it seem like they are helping you out.
