HMT decal install how-to *write up* *PICS BACK UP!*

o.k., i know many of you have got or are waiting on hmt decals, now the only question is, how do i install it? well, i installed mine this weekend and documented it to help you guys out. enjoy.

it all starts with a dream............
then after waiting about 3 mos., you should recieve a little pacage like this from onyx.....
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s1.jpg

so, you're going to want to open the package and check the contents, along with the decal, other tools needed will be: windex (generic), a paper towel (or news paper), your actual decal, and, if you're south of virginia, a good ol' 'peeeeeeeeeeench' of some skoal.
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s2.jpg

o.k., before you start anything, you need to figure out where you want it, this is detrimental to your status at hmt, i've seen people get banned for putting their decal in the wrong place. the preferred location is in the lower left corner of your rear side window, on the black part of the window, NO HIGHER! if you have a sedan, eat a dick, you're fucked.
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s3.jpg

you're then going to want to prep the surface by cleaning it with the windex that you should already have handy.
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s4.jpg

next, you want to carefully pull the backing off the decal and get it ready to install. this can be a bit confusing, but just remember, you're half way done (don't peel the individual letters off, just one side of the tape ;))......
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s5.jpg

o.k., now you're going to place the sticker as straight as possible in the desired location that should have already been cleaned........
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s6.jpg

after rubbing/pressing it religiously as to ensure it stays on 43vAr, you carefully pull the front tape off of the sticker.........
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s7.jpg

now, you are completely finished, and this is what it should look like. if you messed it up somehow, don't tell anyone, just make another donation, and secretly contact onxy and tell him you need another one, then wait 3 more mos. and try again.....
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s8.jpg

and finally, take her out for a test drive. i suggest not putting your decal on until you actually have a 'Home Made Turbo', the birds call you out if you're faking the funk and hate all over your car..........
http://home.comcast.net/~homemadeturbo/s9.jpg

the end, i hope this is helpful to others who may be looking at their decal every day wondering "i wish i knew how to install this thing".

You lose 4 pimp points. I suggest getting a bright red glossy SHIRT. Mayhaps even a pink one. ;)

Wow, thanks for the write-up. In the 3 months I was waiting for my sticker I did several google searches and found nothing on how to install my sticker. Thia really helped. :)

I really did feel a power increase. Not so much on the low end, but more on the top end. It realy helps. :)

yes, but the power it added was too much for the dyno to register, so i figured they were irrelevant.

Awesome! I have 2 stickers to put on, so I may need to upgrade to a stage 12 clutch to handle all of the added p0w3r. I hope I don't rip the wheels right off of my car. ;D Oh, and nice silk shirt, fag. :-X

I know, its a jacket but it looks like a shirt.

Re:HMT decal install how-to *write up* *PICS BACK UP!*

they just see the word 'turbo' and get skeered. i actually had a guy pull up to me the other day, he was in a newer ex with a fart can and we were at the light, and he was like "let me hear it.....", i knew what he was talking about, but i played dumb "hear what?", "your turbo man", "actually man, i don't even have it on right now, it's getting a rebuild" :P

davcivic 04-20-2004 09:08 AM

Re:HMT decal install how-to *write up* *PICS BACK UP!*

Jaja you ricer ;D, it's getting rebuilt right now ::) ::)

I get a lot of people like that, they pull up next to me at a light or something and ask me to rev up the car, last week I can think of 4 times. It's always fun, but my WRX isn't really that fast, people just think it is.

YO YO Would it be stupid to reprezents HMT on the WRX. I mean a HMT sticker in my WRX. I've been thinking about it, donating more to get another one, for the WRX ::) ::)

just make one thing turbo related cheaply, like a home depot mbc or something. you should up the boost anyways ;D then you could sport the hmt sticker, but what do i know, i'm sportin one without a turbo :-\

Re:HMT decal install how-to *write up* *PICS BACK UP!*

Well I've been thinking of buying a CCA intercooler, and make my own pipes, to put a nice FMIC in there, then I can up the boost a little more. I don't feel like spending $1800 on a FMIC kit. I'm going to follow your lead and try to make them for the civic first. practice my welding on the hatch's pipes, then when I get the hang of it, do the WRX and I can officially have something HMT on the car.

By the way, where did can you get the little ball bearing thingy for an MBC? I bought all the parts for it, but could find the steel ball. Finally I remember that spray paint has little steel balls in there, but the one I opened was too big and did not fit in the copper fittings.

Damn Now I'm stealing your thread!!!SORRY

If i had an acetiling torch I could make some bomb ass welds. People say it is brazing but I think it is welding. I went to school for it. Like a pro.

Ok.I allways drive in the fast lane.I feel the need to put the sticker on the passenger side so that the slow ass ricers can only see a white blur of my sticker as I kindly blow there doors off at 140mph.Is this legal? Will I need to get a permit to differ from the norm? Some one please help.I want to install my sticker but dont want to get banned for doing it in the wrong spot :-\.Im affraid that if I put it on the drivers side I'll have to drive in the slow lane so people on the freeway can see it :(.
