HMT @ the track last weekend ::Video::

Me, leia (princess) beau (blacksi) steve (88dx) decided to head down to woodburn this weekend. We planned on staying at Pat's house (BBKA) the night before. On our little venture to longview wash, Beau was towing his car in his new trailer with his dually mexican truck. Me and leia are in her H22 Civic in front and he calls me "dude my alternator light just came on... then click" I pull over and beau goes flying by blowing smoke everywhere. We pop the hood and the fucker is blowing coolant everywhere, the manifolds are glowing cherry ass red. I thought for sure the big block 454 was done! apparently the serp belt flew off. Luckly Beaus dad was on his way down and was able to grab some parts so we could fix it on the side of the road... Finally we get to pats house... Pat was in the middle of a 3 week tranny swap, HAHAHA ;D He was installing his Quaife LSD into his new Y8 Tranny. Got everything handled and all back together around 4am.

Track day... we met up with Johnny (random-strike) @ the track. Woodburn dragstrip is probably one of the nicest and most orginized tracks in our area. It was my first time racing there and I was very impressed.

Now the times..

http://www.draglab.com/wood6-19-04/wb22.jpg

Leia's H22 Hatch running NA 9.1 Pistons on a pretty "ya I think this will work tune" file loaded on the p28 ecu. I had brang an extra h23 downpipe so we could unbolt the 1 piece stock/dp exhaust system and run this thing open header. Well, I didnt know h23 downpipes were different than h22's so that didnt work out! >:( And there was no way in hell I was going to put on the stock exhaust, so we just ran the upper portion of the manifold hahaha, I figured it would be better this way then with the stock exhaust. But god, I really think it hurt performance..

14.72 @ 93.45mph on drag radials (2.2 60ft) - leia

14.62 @ 92.89mph on slicks (2.0 60 ft) - me

(the civic behind her car was a turbo h22 EG, he ran 14.9 and low 15's all day long.. LOL) ::)

http://www.draglab.com/wood6-19-04/wb34.jpg

Johnny had some serious charge pipe problems all day long, blowing them off like crazy. I let him borrow my really shitty drag radials. helped his 60ft's

best ET

14.1 @ 102 mph (drag radials) 2.3 60ft
14.6 @ 102 mph (street tires) 2.7 60ft

http://www.draglab.com/wood6-19-04/wb31.jpg

Pat did pretty good for his first time drag racing ever... (since hes a former Stereo champ and all) rofl :P

13.3 @ 102mph (slicks) 1.8 60ft
13.8 @ 102mph (drag radials) 2.1 60ft?

http://www.draglab.com/wood6-19-04/wb8.jpg

And of course.. who could forget beau? and what happens everytime beau goes to the track?...LOL problems! His first run didnt look to bad other than the rev limiter was at 7500 rpms and he made a pass at 12.1 @ 120mph. So he comes back around we adjusted the rev limiter and he went back inline, does his famous clutch drop 8500rpm launch, goes about 100 ft and just coasts. Ok so he comes back around we pop the front end off and the custom front suspension beau made completely bent up, plus it launched the shifter linkage off, so we tried to bolt it back up and its off a good inch or so, the whole engine is bent about 1/2 - 1in away from the firewall. Not sure what exactly bent. More pics are coming soon on this!

Overall pretty fun weekend, I think we should call "woodburn" more like "sunburn" ;)

Dave should be posting the video shortly.

Big thanks to Steve for coming down and giving us a hand in the pits! ;D

Sounds like u had fun. That's funny about the serpentine belt being lost, didn't he notice the lack of power steering and ----? Lucky he didn't crack one of the heads.

Re:HMT @ the track last weekend

Draglab hosts all the files so I usually update it first before hmt.

Beau has already hit 11.7 last year, his car should be hitting low 11's right now.

My car?... I think I'm gonna take a break on my car for awhile. I do have plans of a possible hm m62 blower setup, but thats just a maybe. ;)

lol you guys crack me up. That Red CRX that raced beau sounded pretty bad ass too. And did I see beau give Pat a HUGE head start? or was that the slow reaction time due to the night b4? ;D

Dam it sounds like you guys had another HMT time. something had to go wrong. I think its like this for everyone. something always messes up. just when you think you have everything perfect, something F's up and you dont have the tools or something to fix it.

Every time I have been to a HMT event someone has broke down the night before :'(. It was good to see all the imports at the drag strip, lots of cool cars.

Big thanks to Jeff, Beau, leia, and pat for the good times I had fun.

Yeah back in the day when I had my 88dx hatch it had a pretty decent stereo system in it. It was more sound quality than loud. I got that trophy at the high school car show so that really doesn't mean too much considering almost everybdy that entered got a trophy or something lol.

This weekend was defintely fun and I am now addicted to slicks. :D Being able to drop the clutch between 6-7k rpms and have it hook up is an awesome feeling. I was really happy with my times and I think with a little more practice and 12 psi I might be able to pull a 12.9 run. I am defintely going to setup my full throttle launch next time so I can pay attention to the tree and get my reaction times down.

Thanks Jeff, Beau, Steve, and Leia for coming down the night before because I would still be installing my LSD right now if you guys didn't help me lol. Awesome video as usually Dave. Oh and Beau next time you visit I will make a shortcut to internet explorer on my desktop for you. :P Beau had a little trouble figuring out how to get on the internet since I only have the recycle bin on my desktop haha.

Here is the time slip of my best run. As you can see I should have beat this guy (he had a skyline), but I was sleeping on the line. Good call on the 13.3 dial in time Jeff.

you just made me a happy man.. im running 83mph in teh 1/8 with a 2.3 60'.. not getting traction until 3rd gear (ET 9.3 :O ).. After seeing your slips, im confidant that i can run a low 13 :D :D :D

RT's are not factored into ET's just a FYI ;D

So you can sit at the line for 40 seconds if you want then take off and it will record after you take off.

I see, but in time trials reaction time matters, right?

HMT-Admin 06-22-2004 02:50 PM

Re:HMT @ the track last weekend ::Video::

your reaction time is never put in your ET.

beerbongskickass 06-22-2004 02:59 PM

Re:HMT @ the track last weekend ::Video::

I know reaction time has nothing to do with my ET, but I got eliminated because the other guy had a better reaction time right? I was closer to my dial in time than he was and my shitty reaction time cost me, that's what I was trying to say.

you are correct. when bracket racing your reaction time matters.

its how close yuo get to your dial without breaking out and they add your reaction time to it.

I was there, but i don't know any of you guys. But i remeber watching most of your races. I live like 25 mins from woodburn dragstrip. I had a small meet the night before for some friends from eugene that were racing. Next meet i will let you know whats up i guess! My new shop will be built then. And the fridge will have lots of beer!

looks like you had fun. sorry to hear about beau's car. was it a cross memeber that bent? or something else? too much traction? perhaps it is time for a tube frame front end!

13.3's is pretty fast for what it is. and so is the h22 ek considering its at 9:1 compression. but then again you were on slicks and you pull .1 sec's faster than your gf. hehe. :P

It's quite embaressing running open header and slicks and you dont even have a helemt, lol.. her 60fts were about as good as mine and I was launching at 6500 with FTL. The thing is just a slug right now.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I broke my axle at taco bell later that night after I got home from the dragstrip. The biotch told me not to race in her parking lot so I decided to leave some rubber after I got my food, but I didn't get very far. It was in my car about 24 hours... is that a record for breaking an axle? I got a new one under warranty though the next day and installed it. :P

update the engine is sitting funny because the rear subframe were the rear engine mount bolts to is completly caved/buckeld in. am i going to fix it of course plans are being made for a new front x-member and a rear subframe that is completly seem welded and plated, and have 1" tubing reifourcment were the mount bolts on as for woodburn ill probly only go there with the red car unless its some huge race and i know the black car is dialed gas is too much to drive 300+ miles round trip and just jerk off at the track.
