Re: HMC
ya im trying to figure out a good bike to start with, i was thinkin about making a crappy chopper out of an older jap bike. im not the originator of this idea anyways ive seen a few
otherwise ive seen rolling chassis on ebay and other places i might sell my other bike to fund that. ive heard you can take the motors out of crashed harleys n ---- cause those engines and trannys aint cheap for customs |
Re: HMC
I've heard that theres a motorcycle junk yard in rosemount, that'd be a good place to start.

Re: HMC

---- the Ruckus... Big Ruckus FTW!
http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/photos/05_BigRuckus.jpg Actually, not really. At 250cc it weighs more than a Ninja 250 and puts out less power. Worthless. |
Re: HMC
ruckus's are slow, even by scooter standards. I think it's because they don't have v-tech. Would be fun to get one and somehow wedge in a XR650R engine or similar though. Engine weighs ~90lbs, makes 55hp.

Re: HMC
Check out the horse magazine , I know quite a few people into this sort of thing and i'm looking at building my own here soon, my bike is to the point where I want it almost and I'm ready to build something old and ratty. Look at the old yamaha 650 inline twins. You can just modify the stock frame, or make bolt in struts to drop the back end, and if you want to lowere the front end alot of bikes you can just loosen the clamps on the tripple tree and push the forks down. I should post pics of my dads old 72 iron head sportster that we've been working on. That is another cheap option as well iron heads can be had for pretty f'n cheap.

Re: HMC
ratty is what im going for.

Re: HMC
Thats pretty badass.. I've been wanting to build one for awhile.

Re: HMC
I did that once during my 12+ hour ride across ontario on my Ninja 636. ---- my ass, wrists and back hurt after that one. I was wishing I had a cruiser.
