High Gas Prices in So Cal and Racing (random topic)

Hey guys, I noticed all these Hi-Powered Turbo Mods and all the happy shiet you put on your rockets, and how you must use higher octane gas. But how about my problem here in Cali where prices are so damned high? I am forced to put 87 on my normal cars and they run pretty shitty. I can't even start to imagine putting 87 on my future turbo project. Few questions:

Based on where you guys are at, how much is gas?

What is the best octane booster to use?

Here in central florida regular gas is around 1.85, but premium is at around 2.15 thats 93 octane. My WRX needs 93, it says so in the manual, and I tried 89, car ran like ----. The civic gets 93 also. It's getting expensive and I'm thinking of buying a bike.

Octane boosters only up the grade like 0.2, so if you buy 89 and put octane boosters, then you'll have 89.2 gas. Not worth it. The only mix that is worth something is paint thinner, actually toulene(sp), it is rated at like 110 octanes and mixed with cheap gas can give you a mix of anywhere from 95-100 octane if done right. You can get it at paint stores, but don't tell them is for your car, it is illegal to use as gas.

There was a post about this sometime ago.

I can only imagine what 110 octane is at the track. 8 or 9 bucks a gallon?
