HID projectors?

Does anyone use projectors with their HID's? I have installed a 6000k HID kit on my
EF, but I was contemplating if the projector style housing would make a difference if the beam. It seems that on the newer cars with projector housing (ie. TSX, BMW) the beam of light seems to be more focussed and intense. ???

Re: HID projectors?

any pics? They would most likely be brighter if you used a projector or diamond cut headlamp as opposed to a factory fluttered/dispursing lense, because the fluttered lense was never designed for HID bulbs. Just from observation when HID kits are used with factory fluttered lenses they seems to be less effective

Re: HID projectors?

hid and stock housings suck, the beam goes everywere and you get high beamed and still have shitty lights. Projectors are gay as ---- because the ricers recked that in everyway. Get a sweet ass flash light and hold it out the window ;)

Re: HID projectors?

The projectors in the projector headlights are made for Halogen bulbs, and aren't going to have the cut-off like any BMW, Mercedes, TSX, Etc. You can get the projectors from these cars and fit them in, but just putting HID bulbs into them is not going to do any better. Look into some shields for the bulbs.

I used Maxima headlights, which are stock without projectors but with HID's, and just used the shield the stock Maxima uses in my stock EG housings. It made a HUGE difference, because it directed the light where it needed to be, and there was little scattering. I sold them to stan on here about a year ago, and he put them in his EK.

Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures, but if you have any questions about making shields for your existing headlights, shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do to help explain the process to you.

Re: HID projectors?

Well, I directed civicsi to this page:

http://faqlight.carpassion.info/special-topics.htm

But like the one you have pictured is the newest version of the maxima, and as you can see has an HID projector in the bottom. I had the previous years headlights which used a reflector. If you get HID's out of an OEM headlight housing (which I would reccomend, for reliability) like I did, you need to make some sort of adapter so it will fit into your headlights. I just cut the base off of an H4 bulb and glued it all together. I would post up pics from my for sale thread before, but unfortunately none of them work. Let me know if you need anything else....

Re: HID projectors?

I'm talking about the part that goes around the actual bulb, I wish I still had pics, they were on my old computer which has long shitted out... I sold them to username Stan on here, try pming him, possibly he took pictures of them before he installed them, I have no idea if he still has them though... Like that site says, I would reccomend going to shucks and getting two little cans of touch up paint and cut them up and JB weld them to the light and make a cut in it like specified in the site. They actually looked pretty damn good once I got them aligned right, I never got flashed and never got pulled over in the month I had them in my car. There was a little bit of scatter, but for the most part it was very good output.

I know i am late on this topic but i have an HID kit on my '05 civic and i have no problem with the appearance of my headlights i was contemplating the projector housing as well but i didn't want to go through the bulb swapping cus they change from what i have to an H4

Re: HID projectors?

Projectors make the beam more defined. Make your own projectors and be original (kinda) and get some junkyard cars projectors then fit them in your headlight assembly. ftl

Re: HID projectors?

The only thing i would recommend if you don't want to be to ricey is getting the clears lenses cus now i lowered my car and i have re-align them to make them at least almost stock cus projectors are too much.
