I've always heard ---- about rotaries, and was kinda apprehensive to buy one because of it, but mine runs fine. Leaks a ---- ton of oil, but thats no big deal...just keep a buncha supertech in the car at all times. I don't know if I'd pick a rotary to throw in a boat though. I think I'd be looking for something cheaper with more easily accessible parts

putting an engine in a boat is ------- simple, expecially a jet boat.. get a jet prop, fiberglass that ---- in, add some metal mounts, weld up a shaft, get a close tollerence ware ring because 4 strokes lose all of their low end on a 2 stoke prop setup. cake work.
I wouldn't even think of trying something like that and keeping it out board.

right.... I won't need any paddles.... maybe a helmet and some clean undies.. .
If you want to see what I got it's a scarab sprint 18 1994... It came with a 3.0l merc 4cyl. I/O alpha gen2...
I got a 12A from a 82' rx-7... Parts are very cheap!!!! I'm looking at a set of matched stage 3 race rotors with 3mm apex seals. I'm gunna port the ---- out of it and run a TBI set-up from a late 80's camero. I'm just not sure if I can get a mateing plate for my drive.
3.0l merc engine = 631 lbs / 140hp (new)
1.2l mazda 12A rotary = 164 lbs / 108hp (at the wheels 2 weeks ago w/81k miles)
between the weight loss and the extra power I think that little ---- will haul ***!!!! Besides I have a whole year to prepare the project. I'm gunna try to smoke the motor that's in there in the mean time...

Peripheral port ftw on old-school 12a's. Look into that or a bridge-port. My old shop used to have a 81 rx-7 12a as the boss's fun toy, peripheral port work and a nice set of down-draft cabs, slammed out almost 300hp at the wheels with a 17k rev limit. Idle was set at 4500 rpm and sounded like a chainsaw. I wish I could've found out what exactly he did to that motor, but the port work was all he'd tell me
