I have a buddy who wants to turbo his sunfire, I really want to help him out but I have no clue about fuel management for these things.

Why did you use bigger injectors and an FMU?
Can you chip those ECU's?
What MAP sensor is it, 3bar?

It is the standard 2.4 litre, late 90's. Also any help on parts ie your buddy's manifolds, would be greatly appreciated.

airtonics is using a FMU with Ford thunderbird 2.3 turbo injectors

Hey sorry I was gone for a weekend and didn't see your post.

Anyways douche is right I'm using an fmu and thunderbird injectors in the setup.

You cannot chip our ecu at least no one I know of has yet. Also for the map sensor I'm not sure but it will not detect boost. I'd still run a check valve on it, some have problems some don't. If his car is 2000 or newer he can get his ecu reflashed with the gm supercharger program and use the 3 bar map sensor and the 310cc injectors that come in the kit. It also has to be a 5-speed for that to be possible though.

The best place to get a decent priced manifold is from exploited racing. www.exploitedracing.com

His stainless manifolds are really nice looking and not badly priced if you ask me.

Anyways my injectors are 35 lb/hr which makes the car run really rich. I'd suggest getting something like the 2.3 HO injectors which are about 320cc or 31 - 32 lb/hr. My FMU is a cartech adjustable fmu part # 2025, for an fmu I really like it. If his is an automatic I'd stongly suggest getting an auto trans interceptor to firm up the shifts and a tranny cooler as well.

Be careful when buying injectors... Depending upon the year you may have low or high impedance injectors. Everything pre 00 has low impedance excluding some mid production 99's. Everything newer uses high impedance.

But still, how come you used larger injector AND an FMU, wouldn't that be a shitload more fuel? Higher volume and pressure.

theres piggy back units for our odb-2, but that really it as far as that goes... tec3, e-manage.... id just go with an fmu over a stand alone and all that crap... much much cheaper and easier in my opinion...

btw, what enine is in the fire? 2.2L? 2200? 2.4L? 2.2L ecotec?

Big J,

Yeah I'm probably running rich but when I had my stock injectors in (which are 240 or 260cc) my air fuel gauge went to the red sometimes and stayed there...plus i couldnt even get my egt's to register since it tacked out gauge. I even had the fmu cranked all the way up....

Anyways after installing the new injectors which I had laying around from my old t-birt turbo coupe. I havent had the problem. I have a wideband o2/data logger now so when the snow goes away I'll find out my correct air/fuel and adjust from there.
