help with my launching

well I will be running in the nopi nationals this comming saturday and sunday. and last time I went to the track my 60ft's sucked or at least I think they do. I have a 88 crx with high cr ls/vtec in it. the car puts down some decient numbers for na anyways I cut 1.9's last time with m&h race masters 22" slicks my time was 13.4@100 I don't think that is horrible just the 60's. I set the 2step @7800 seems to go decient but 60's still suck. Is it my suspension? we just put shims in the rear. any other things you guys do that I don't know about. thanks anything would be helpfull I really have my heart set on 12.8's but ehh we will see.
here is a vid of the last run I got in. so far only 4 passes on the car 2 with slicks http://www.fourgasmmotorsports.com/88crx-13_49.wmv

ya I know tell me about it I was thinking more around the lines of say 1.7 or so 1.6 would be awesome. so what's up with it.

lightweight flywheel?

open header?

There's the problem :)

i bet it is ricer style open header :P

Re: help with my launching

and just what exactly is a ricer style open header. :1 you think I could lose that much with a flywheel. I was thinkin about bumpin the air pressure in the tire form 12 to say 16 or 17 whacha think.

Re: help with my launching

open header you loose torque, kills the launch.

You need at add a 18-24" section to it to bring the torque back.

Flywheel = stored energy, helps the launch.

WHat rpm are you trapping at in 4th gear? Migth wanna goto a 20x8x14 slick.......then your light flywheel might be OK.

Re: help with my launching

not positive on the rpm but I wanna say around 7k or so maybe just under it. should I try launching at 8500 ? help a little. I have to say though the car doesn't really bog at all. just rips up and goes. I think I will try the 18" pipe thing to see what that does.

old school V8 knowledge wins again :)

Gotta tune the collector length :)

What was your 60 foot?

Re: help with my launching

consistant 1.8's still not good but considering that's on a stock 210k suspension it's not horrible. some of the pros were sayin I should run like 5 or 6psi in the tires. but ehh that seems almost unsafe. I will post a vid as soon as i can it's a borrowed camera with a dead batt and no charger or firewire cord so could be a week or so anyways here are the results for last sunday

60' -1.874
330'-5.302
1/8-8.204@84.26
1000'-10.697
1/4- 12.8@105.58

Re: help with my launching

I never went below 12 psi on the 22x8x13's, but only got 4 passes on them. I was told 9-10 psi is better, but never got back to try.

My best N20 passes for comparison.........on 20x8x14 @ 12 psi
