help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
For my engineering entreprenuership class, we had to come up with a product/business plan. I need your help for some market research.
*sample product (base head unit used designed by Clarion)* http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZmQzMXk1NDE%3D Question 1: Would you pay 20% more for an aftermarket CD reciever with the ability to read MP3's off a USB key drive? Question 2: Would you be more likely to purchase a new car if it had the key-drive USB capability? THANKS GUYS!!!! |

Re:help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
Yes, and no, that wouldn't be the only factor in my decision. However, if I had two cars that were identical and this one had the usb key thing, I'd take it ;)

Re:help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
lemme tell u something about people that like to have great sound
they swap out all the stock pieces, unless ur talking about high-end stock units like on the luxury mercedes models ;) |
Re:help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
I'm fully aware of that. Our product is based on the fact that everyone likes things to be convenient and easy. Thats what our product does. But a lot of cars that are marketed towards younger audiences who are big into music are getting a lot nicer stereos. I can see a lot of people in their mid 20s who would be buying a $22k with a nice stereo like the convenience of playing music with their key drive that they carry with them on their keychain.

Re:help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
Theres already a patent on that Idea, so good luck trying to mass produce.

Re:help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
are you serious? its for a class project, i'm not really looking to make a business out of it, it'd be impossible to compete w/ all the big names like sony, pioneer, kenwood, etc... do you have a link to the patent? we searched but didn't find anything... thats a problem

Re:help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
no & no. i like Alpine HU's.
|
Re:help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
are u basing your 20% more on the fact that iw would cost you, say, 10% more to produce it? I dont think that the fact its a clarion makes any difference. say its an alpine the same features?
the price, i think, plays a decent factor is what people buy. people dont want cheap things, they want good things for a cheap price, and the convenience issue, like u said. I have no idea what a key drive is, but i think its one of those small usb storage things? I think that with the new craze of ipods and stuff of thay nature, people would like ot have that as an option on a new car, or an option with their new headunit thaey want to buy. i have a small business management class 2, so i can kind of think on your same level. were u doing this to get some sort of poll? or was it for advice on the next step of your project? |
Re:help me out! 2 easy Q's about a USB capable head unit
no and no,
btw sony has a headunit out that accepts sony memory sticks, so you can transfer music onto the radios internal hdd, i think it bombed, it was too expensive and not really functional whos going to transfer music 256 mb at a time! |
