Default Help me decide guys! D16 or LS?

here's the story: i have a turboed d16y7. its running on afc and 6lbs of boost and i like it. but the motor is 190k miles old! that means there has to be some change pretty soon, but i dont have too much money. awhile back i bought forged rods and pistons for the sucker and i was planning to buy a newer d16 block to put the pistons and rods in, tune it right with uberdata, boost it around 12-15 lbs? how much power will i get out of that setup?

Anyways, recently i've been lookin at Ls motors on recycler and some are pretty cheap, around $1,000. SO that got me thinkin and now i cant decide which i want. the LS ahs more potential when i turbo it... but the cost to swap to an Ls will be worth the block and tunning that i was gonna get for my D16!!! what should i do guys?? sell my rods, pistons and get an ls and turbo it? or keep building the d16??

the y7 can handle alot more than 6psi as it sits...just turn the boost up and be happy with it a while longer.

I like D cuz there just soooo easy. i mean come on, if you and a friend can lift the motor into the engine bay by hand, and still run 13's - its gotta be good.

12psi in a d will get you bout 200whp, the ls will get you way more power same boost just a llil bigger turbo, you should think about what your goals are if you only intend to get to the 300hp street monster range then you will be set picking up a d16z6 or y8 from a junk yard and rebuilding the seals with yiour internals and hitting that mark with your interanls even on stock sleevs if you want more power then just go for the ls

i love d's because there ------- all over the place over here and cheap as ---- too, i just cant justify the cost of a swap and a new kit for my weak *** 200 whp goals ls tourqe would own if u did decide to go that way though :P :P :P :P

go turbo d. i know of 3 locally running from low 13's to low 14's on stock blocks. clutches, flywheels, engines, and transmissions all cost way less for d's than ls's.
