Help me choose a bike...

Hey guys I'm looking at some bikes and wanted
to know what wich one is the best of all...
All 2007 bikes
R6 , Cbr600 or the Gsxr600????
It's my first street bike and just wanna know if anyone
has any experience with these.
I did hop on the R6 and I liked it a lot but I dont know
wich one would be the most reliable after a while.
Thanks

Jump on the biggest baddest bike you can find, get on that fucker, full throttle, 15k rpms and learn to ride. >:D
(thats the most retarded thing you can possibly do BTW)

Find a cheap bike (I would recommend a dual sport or something like that) ride it for a year, learn to ride, once you have riddin that and learn the basics, then buy yourself a bigger bike.

Also, the bike should be only a small part of the cost of your first bike.
Dont be stupid and ride without a helmet/jacket/gloves.

Re: Help me choose a bike...

i ridden both a 05 r6 and a 06 cbr600rr and i was more comfortable on the r6 and it was a lil quicker than the cbr, but the cbr seat was more comfortable than the r6, so my vote is the r6....not sure about the gsxr 600 but all of them are great bikes you will be happy with anyone of them...

find a used ducati monster... not as appealing to the eye - but ----, it's a ducati

i wouldn't buy a new one as your first bike...

Re: Help me choose a bike...

Don't get a goddamn brand new bike for your first one. That is almost as dumb as welding turbo fins. Pick up a mid-90s 600cc bike and go learn how to ride

Haha thanks guys, like I said it's my 1st bike but
it's not like I've never ridden one before. I used to ride
my cousins 750 a lot before he sold it.
Anyways I'm probably leaning towards the R6 just for looks,
flat black FTMFW!!! I'll post some ripper vids of 15k rpm drop for junkyard racer ;D

Re: Help me choose a bike...

BUY AN OLD 600 AS A FIRST BIKE

just as fun, not as light weight but would be BEST to learn on. because YOU WILL DROP YOUR BIKE and it will cost alot more to fix a new bike then an old one. an old 600 bike takes AT LEAST 6 months to completely learn and be completely confertable with the power.

Let me rephrase "completely bored of the power"

only when you are bored with the power is a time when you should upgrade. because by then you'll be able to handel the bike and know how to ride.. that is of course if your starting from scratch. that's comming from a guy who has well over 10,000 riding miles under his belt. i can't stress enough how FUCKEN STUPID PEOPLE ARE when it comes with new bikes

btw even the old 600cc bikes are LOW! 11's machines. that's like a 350WHP CRX on slicks.

Good stuff over with a new bike compared to an old one:
new bikes by comparism handle slightly better, weight on average is about 45lbs less with the replacement of steel frames with aluminum ones, they also consume slightly less gas due to Fuel Injection, they also have a greater powerband with the better fuel curve with the FI, and 20HP more on average due to FI. also they can be tune for a little bit more as the EFI on most new bikes are conservitive as ----. carberators really do suck... even if you have them tuned right. the only benifit they have over FI is the better throthle response. other then that they FI rocks compared to a CARB. because you'll have alot of trouble with being too rich or too lean. and those are unconrtollable events unless you tune your carb for the area you are in.

Bad stuff over an NEW bike compared to an old one:
they are also more expensive over all by alot. insurance is MORE expensive for the Aluminum frames Bikes. Dropping a new bike will cost more to repair then an old one. Plastic pieces are more expensive due to higher demand. the new bikes have a VASTLY bigger chance of BENDING its aluminum frame. steel frames Seldom bend. getting a new bike Costs way too much money.

also did i mention YOU WILL DROP YOUR BIKE. i thought i was never going to drop my bike. sure enough i drop it the first month i have it.

remember learn to ride before you ride.

Re: Help me choose a bike...

I just got a 2000 SV650. First bike. First bike I've ever ridden(minus the 150cc bikes at the place I took lessons). So far I don't have too many complaints. Some days I wish I had a simple Ninja 250 or a smaller engine Japanese standard, though but I'm pretty sure if I had the Ninja or the standard, most days I would wish I had a 500+cc bike.

you know what i still don't give a ----. you need to learn still.. FUCKEN NEW RIDERS.. think they know everything.
BLAH BLAH BLah i used to ride my friends 750. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

i used to ride my buddy's 1200 bandit. and i had 1000 miles under my belt with that bike. AND that was the first bike i rode consistantly and i can attest to you that I STILL DIDN"T know the True basics to ride for realz.

now that my ass has 9000 miles under a old 600 im ready to jump.. you friend need to learn too.

Re: Help me choose a bike...

I'm not saying I have the skillz to ride this bitch to the limit
nor will I try. And if I drop the bike then oh well ---- happens sometimes.
I have been around motocross since I was young, now I know thats
not the same at all but still gives me more of a chance to not ----
something up.
Plus I dont want to have to mess around with a used bike, a few years
ago I wouldnt have cared but as I get older I just want piece of mind.
So for $7800 on the R6 I think I'ma jump on it.

Re: Help me choose a bike...

i paid 2k for my 600. only thing i invested on it was tires, oil changes, a chain and sprocket and last but not least new grips on my handle bar.

Re: Help me choose a bike...

I think I'm one of the few 20yr old dudes rocking cruiser style bike, I have nearly 6,000 miles on it and have'nt dropped it once. I need to get some new pics cause it looks pretty much exactly as my goal for it was. Anyways I don't have any trouble keeping up the pace the guys i ride with and quite a few ride sport bikes. Everyone thinks they need a brand new 600cc sport bike for their first one but i have plenty of fun on my 800cc vtwin. I ride a 1999 suzuki intruder vs800 btw, granted they can take corners and accelerate faster than me but there is no need to go as fast as the sport bikes can go on the street. Only way I'd get a sport bike is as my second bike.

Re: Help me choose a bike...

Buy my bike. '97 CBR 600 (my first bike... plenty of power). Or you can get a brand new bike and regret it... your choice.

Re: Help me choose a bike...

first bike was a GS500 had it for almost 2 years. Great bike... beat the hell out of it. Pushed it to its very limits. Learned all the fundamentals of riding and then some. Best 1k I EVER spent. You know why... i'm selling it for 1500 this weekend.

Gonna be picking this up:

Don't be an idiot and buy a brand new bike as a first... if you do I will be waiting and watching the classifieds in your area for an 07 w/ a salvage title :P

Re: Help me choose a bike...

If your careful you might not drop your bike. I bought a brand new bike as my first bike and don't regret it. Never dropped it didn't get bored but I'm kind of small. To choose the right bike for you, sit on all of them and find the least uncomfortable bike of them all. They are all fast, they all look fast, and none of them are comfortable. If you plan on doing any longer cruises you WILL want to find the bike that suits your body type the best.

The honda is always a good bet, especially for a learner bike, the question is how many years, or how well rather, have you ridden a bike? I've had a motorcycle since I was 8 and almost a decade later I still get butterflies everytime I get on it in a corner. I'm partial to the GSXR, and plan on getting either an 03 600 or the 750. The torque on the 750 is amazing, it is the smoothest most confidence inspiring ride for less than 3g's. As for the incumbancy on liter bikes, my buddy has a 2007 Yamaha R1 that dances around anything on the road with a flick of the wrist, there is no snap steer like old liter bikes. The chassis design in new liter bikes is really amazing I seriously doubt that there is much difference between them now-a-days, but I've only had the liberty of riding the R1.

see the bike in my sig? ive owned it for almost 2 years, it was my first bike and i never dropped it, not even close. crazy huh?

there no difference in driving a 600 over a say my 954, they have different power bands and have about a 50 lb weigh difference. they both will go the same top speed, just one takes 5 seconds longer to get there. i dont believe in starting out on something small.

unless you want to look like my friend here, who thought buying a 600 for his first bike would be a good idea. Sport bikes are not engineered for beginning riders. Steep steering angle, powerful engines, more powerful brakes, and short wheel bases all add up to a bike that's a handful in controlled situations and guaranteed road rash for a novice in any other situation.

i liked my r6 better than my cbr. IMO get a a 2002 r6 because its old enough to be cheap, yet still fuel injected. I started on a 600 and never dropped it, but I've had many many near death close calls :l Don't get too comfortable riding the first few months or you'll die

c'mon now, don't group everyone into that category. I'm looking at both cbr's and r6's and have never stepped foot in an abercrombie store nor would I be dumb enough to ride around in a tshirt.

Re: Help me choose a bike...

if you have motorcross experience......... you are way ahead of most street riders already

even the ones that have taken the MSF joke

by far the very best way to learn how to ride a motorcycle and all the best street riders I know

had many miles on two wheels before ever getting on a street bike

it was interesting to watch Bubba Shobert get off a flat track bike and absolutely kick ass in GP racing

get what you like..... I recommend the GSXR750 or better......... the 1000

the 1000 is more than most any mortal man can ever use

but so it the 750

Re: Help me choose a bike...

^^^ couldnt agree more. MANY racers, the haydens i know know for sure, have been quoted saying that the key to being fast on the street is first being fast on the dirt. Nothing builds riding skills more than ripping a 450 through the woods hell bent, not only do you not risk any1 else, things arent ----- like the factory or state motorcycle classes
