if this were true then you would know the first post would work, the starter kill relay doesnt work unless the alarm is armed, when the alarm is armed it gives the relay a true ground or positive depending on alarm.

when you kill the power to the alarm the relay gets no signal input therefore its just like you disarmed it.

I'm not necessarily familiar with the schematics of car alarms, but I would think a car alarm would have a circuit that detects when the key is turned and if the alarm is disabled or enabled. then if its enabled it would allow the relay to click over inside of it to allow you to start your car. but if it had no power to it, then it would not be able to detect if it is enabled or disabled or complete the circuit to switch the relay over. its what i would do if i was designing a car alarm. but who knows.

I would think the best way to fix it. is find the box and unhook all the wires to. then get to soldering the wires back together with there corosponding gauge and color.

It will still pull a strong enough ground off of any trigger still hooked up. such as parking lights, door locks, door triggers. Go ahead try it if you dont believe me. Leave the starter kill relay hooked up and cut the power/ground to the alarm.

Don't be a tool....starter interupt circuits can be wired normally open or normally closed. Also, the starter kill circuit when wired "normally closed" is not "active" when the alarm is armed...the brain simply provides ground to one side of the coil on the relay and the the relay becomes "active" when the idiot that is trying to jack your ---- turns the ignition. Granted, most companies and most installers choose to use a normally closed application over a normally open application because it is less likely to leave you stranded if the brain fails. Buk9tp....try looking for a small button under the dash...and try pressing it while you have the key in the "on" position. This is a valet overide switch, not saying it will work since I don't know what type of alarm you have in there, but it is worth a shot before you start hacking ---- out. Then you can find out what kind of unit it is, order a new remote, program it to the system and have a functioning alarm. And don't worry, most of the time all old transmitters can be deleted so your buddy can't come reclaim the vehicle, lol.

i have an alarm on my civic if my alarm is on and i turn the key it wont start and the alarm will go off. so i am thinking the alarm is fucked up and just stays on all the time , so if u snip the positive wire or take out the main control of your alarm the car should start.
