true but using that pan is pretty pimp but like he said earlier it s just going to attract heat and then not do much id just dish the cash and get that pimp one you found on ebay or that t1 :y

heatsheild products makes them but they are like $150 :l

my options are down to quality of the product, and fitment, I am undecided on T1 or ebay, are they the same products, or is the ebay one cheap quality.

I have personally made the pan heatshield after seeing that thread, and while it worked out great, the issue was that it eventually cracked due to the thinner walls and vibrations of the engine. It looked sweet and was functional, but long lasting.......not so much.

Re: heat shield blanket

but does it do the job that its suppose to? keeping the heat in the turbo and away from the hood? it don't seem to if anything it made it hotter.
the one I am looking at actually the ones they use on all military turbo vehicles and they works, I am mad that I did not snatched one up when I had the chance. I have the Dei one, but all it is a sheet of wrap and silver heat sheild you have to shape it to the turbo. I ended taping it to my hood.

Re: heat shield blanket

I thought it was to keep the heat centralized where its coming from, and not let it dissipate eventually all over the rest of the components in the engine bay. Seems like it would work the same to me, unless the people who actually sell it are using some form of high tech zinc alloy from china.

You can probably use pampers for mexican kids. That thing looks like a diaper and if all you need is to save your hood the pot shield would work great.

Re: heat shield blanket

Where do you get those special pampers from? Do mexican kids eat spicy food that deteriorates the pamper >:(

lol, I really want see the comparison though. The pamper style cover would probably work the best to keep all the heat insulated to the exhaust side and not let it ------. I think the heat shield pot can style would work great depending on the location though.

its not only for my hood, but it get the heat directly, my hood actually touches the manifold with my current setup (ramhorn) made 2 marks in the piece that I taped to the hood.
now with the topmount it I will shield the turbine housing with one of those diaper thingy, and wrap the downpipe, won't wrap the manifold because of warranty issues, but I think just wrapping the downpipe and turbine will make huge difference in underhood temps.
I keep scorching vacuum lines on the wastegate, so I am gonna hitup stevemode for some ss lines to solve that part.
