having car painted??? color change...opinions?

well i REALLY want a white hatch...and i want to start with a clean car. my search has found me lots of red, some phantom grey, and acouple white ones...

two problems with the white cars...
1: too ------ expensive (already modded)
2: ------ pieces of ----

so i have come up with an idea, but im not sure if i like it... i can just have the car repainted. you can pick up a car wiht shitty paint (white, black, grey...not red or green), but still strait, for a little cheaper...

but can i get a clean paint job for the difference in price? thinking around 1000bucks... wouldnt need the interior ---- painted. was gonna spray the jams and ---- with the same color paint as i paint the car (Frost or Championship white) with custom mixed paint from NAPA in rattle cans (base coat paint)......

anyway, im i stretching too far here? or am i having a good idea?....

I think $1000 is definatley do-able. The only thing is what about the engine bay?

Re: having car painted??? color change...opinions?

If you are going to pull the motor and do the engine bay then i think it is doable.$1000 is tight budget but if you do some prep that would help.

Just to get a Idea i spent about $400 to paint job on my crx. Of course i didnt pay my dad to paint it ;) but all the little stuff u have to buy adds up. I also wanted a white car but found a cheap red one and I think its just way too much work to change the color. unless ur doing the work yourself or have a good hook up its better just to pay extra for a clean white car :-\

Jung4g did it gangster and we did the whole car in rustoleum with harbor freight spray guns. I still think you could do the jams and then get a nice job for $1000. (paint the by with black spray)

100% hold out for a white hatch, saves you so much work and trouble

Color changes are very expensive, very time consuming and what do you and people actually see, the jams and the engine bay....

Id definetely hold out for a white car to begin with

Re: having car painted??? color change...opinions?

I'd say find a clean hatch of any color and get it painted at Macco's and trunk liner paint the engine bay and have alot of chedda in your pocket to spend on other things.....Like a new paint job the following year. Sorry I guess that didn't help but hell I'm just gonna get the Z macco job cause I'm poor like that.

why dont you just paint your red hatch that you already have white?

Re: having car painted??? color change...opinions?

I am trying to decide what color to paint my red CRX. I on the other hand, have no interest in having it even close to perfect as its a rot box. I cut out what I could and skim coated most of the dents. I am going to use Rustolium in the gallon at HomeDepot. I'm not using a roller like all the others did. I bought some cheap HVLP's. It only needs to be a 10 ft paint job. I am also looking to go white. It looks good with flaws and you can wash a white car with a brillo pad and it still will look new.

At least white is a pretty forgiving color, it wont look piss poor even if the paint is not super expensive, unlike some metallics and dark colors. It hides bodywork pretty good too. I would def paint the engine bay too.

car looks good 88dx. a complete paint job with color change cost me $2000 not including materials(i bought them myself) but im going to paint the engine bay my self, i can't decide whether im going to paint it the same as the body or flat black ???

Re: having car painted??? color change...opinions?

Well if you want a ton of body filler inyour car then take it to the russans but if you want it done right take it to the white guy that has been to school. And I am white and I do bodywork. You can make alot of money in body work. Why do you think that people from other counries come here and do it?

Re: having car painted??? color change...opinions?

a new bumper cover and a little body work really isn't that expensive or too hard to do yourself. i did all the body work on my car and payed $500 for it to be sprayed and i had to buy the materials with the jams done also. paint can be expensive depending on what color you go with.
