Those aren't 6L's, they are the 6.4's

Ford V6's (in the E vans at least) like to chew the lobes off the cams.

The one in the middle is a 6.0L.

I'm a Ford technician. We the 6.0L a "service opportunity". :y

Turbos are only bad because of the people who don't use their truck and the vanes get full of carbon or rust.

CXyD 10-21-2008 10:28 PM

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

I've seen seals on the turbos go out after 30,000 or so on 3 county fire trucks and one BLM fire truck.

SiFlyBy 10-21-2008 10:33 PM

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

Hmmmmm....I've never seen a seal failure. Only vanes sticking and one that snapped the impeller.

That's why people swap Cummins 12/24V into those trucks. :6 ---- a Powerstroke. :P

international had a handle on the diesel market in the 80's

It's actually pretty common. Alot of guys on the diesel forums have Cummins swapped Fords. Take that Ford. :P

I love my 6.0l, I have seen many guys kill them by being retards but I have seen the same done to a cummins. Making big power is easy, making big safe power takes a little more money.

Think of a stock d series on 15 pounds then bitching when the ring lands let go.

SiFlyBy 10-22-2008 01:10 AM

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

I have to admit that the 6.0l runs ------- hard, even stock. 6.4l are even better, especially with the DPF removed. 6.0l tricked out like highroller54's I can only imagine.

What is your mods list to date?

I might be picking up a 2004 Cummins soon. I was looking at a 2004 Duramax which is the body I want, but I want a truck with a ------- loud and manly tractor motor in it. :P Plus having 2 silver Dodge's parked in my garage sounds so nice. :6
This is the rig I'm looking at right now:

Only 40k miles. I'm trying to pick it up for less than $20k.

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

I would much rather just buy a dodge than swap a superduty. The Ford has a bit better interior but not by much.

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

This guy is having problems with his PowerStroke after only 500k miles. What a POS. :P

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

new ford trucks look the best out of the 3. dodge trannies (auto) are complete garbage, and chevy, well my old boss had 2 duramax trucks, 1 he ended up getting rid of after a few years because it was falling apart, and the new one he bought the dealer bough back because it had serious issue with the motor. all Gm has going for it is the allison trannies.

i guess if you had a ford witha cummins and an allison youd have a serious ass truck.

---- yeah. :6 They make some killer trannies to replace the lame ass tranny they use with the Cummins. That combo is unstoppable and as long as you like the looks of the Dodge trucks, you're set. :6

Honestly, I'd rather have a Cummins with an Allison in a Chevy truck. I don't know why, but I just don't care for Fords. Never owned a Ford, but some of our work trucks are Fords and they are shitboxes and at 48k miles with religous oil changes every 3k miles they are starting to knock. :3 These are gas motors though.....

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

The torqueshift is about as bulletproof a trans as there is out there. I cant say aything bad about the allisons though.

For me it would be a cummins in a dodge with an allison. Dodge running gear > ford running gear. I worked in a shop and pretty much all we did was front end and brake work on superduty's.

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

The gray one (6.4L) sucked air into the high pressure fuel pump and locked up the pmp therefore destroying the cam and pump gears.

The white one (6.0L) was over heated by the customer and scorched a piston( customer pay).

The dark gray one (6.4L) had an injector stick open and burn a hole in the piston.

If you are telling me that the 03+ aam diffs that dodge use now will even hold a candle to the dana 60/sterling10.5 combo you must of fell on your head :X

Dodge cant keep diff's, ball joints, tie rod ends, rack&pinions or anything else aam builds since the swap from dana :1

Drive by a dodge dealership right now and tell me how many complete diffs are outside waiting for waranty returns :y

Now if your talking pre 03 then I'd call them pretty even.

I'm not even going to touch the trans, the 5r110 will last longer then any dodge trans ever made even if it was filled with gravel :S

You'll notice I said allison I know dodge can't make a trans to save them. And yes pre 03 common rail ---- is too expensive and vp44's are ---- ill take a 97 p-pump truck. Though if money wasn't an option a long box dually mega cab would be badass.

Re: Have you driven a Ford lately?

I am a ford guy but in 02 I bought a new duramax with the allison and I still love that truck. It tows the corolla back and forth to the drags like it is towing a lawnmower. I have a 7.3 in my car carrier and it has been a good truck but I like the duramax better. I went to the drags in New york last weekend and had to tow a eclips back( he broke his rear diff),He rode with me on the ride back and never knew it was a diesel. I also like the ride, nice and smooth!

Cummins ford or ford cummins.com is the website. Just the swap kit alone is $2700. If I had the money I would do it.
