Hartman's book was annoying. McInnes is the only one to do a decent entry-level primer aimed at the layman.

Ricardo, Obert, and pick through Taylor if you want to read a book about engine/turbo theory.

Joseph Davis read books thru osmosis. He puts books under his pillow and in the morning he knows cover to cover! :o
