Guitar Tips

I'm extremely interested in learning to play guitar. I've borrowed a friend's acoustic and I'm starting to read tabs. I was wondering if you guys thought it would be easier to learn on an electric? If so, whats a good "setup" i.e guitar, amp and everything I need to start playing. Keep in mind I'm looking for HMT prices on decent brands. I've found some setups for like $150 "complete" online. But I don't know ---- about whats what as far as quality and reasonable prices go. Help a nig out.

I don't see how one would be easier to learn than the other, but I don't know.

Someone told me to check out guitartips.com for learning, said it's $10 a month but you have access to thousands of tutorial videos. You can also torrent some teaching software.

IMO as far as fingering and stuff an electric is a little easier to play because the action is usually lower (sit closer to the fretboard) and the frets are smaller, not to mention that acoustics are uncomfortable to me. Ive had probably 15 guitars, ive really enjoyed Ibanez guitars the most and ive also enjoyed my latest fender purchase also. what electric and amp to buy really depends on what style of music you want to play.. some guitars are pretty versatile while some are definitely genre oriented. what kind of style do you wanna play?

---- that $10 a month ----.

www.myguitarsolo.com is badass as ----, take the time to really learn the music theory as well, it makes it much easier later on, that and learning it right the first time. Now that I'm trying to learn more complicated arpeggio sweep patterns I have to keep relearning my left hand fingerings because I never got my two hands to move exactly together.

For chords and things there's another good site:
http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/

They have a lot of stuff on there too, but I like the way it's set up on myguitarsolo.

Any tips on where and what brand would be good to start on. I'm more into rock music.
