gt 3782

I am planning a build up of a small block in a 1991 mazda rx7, I have a 350 4 bolt main with '68 327 camel hump heads ,comp cams 262/269 duration,,.462/.455 lift (advertised) 750 holley modified for blow through with a victor jr. intake.with a comp. ratio of 8.5 to 1 I want to use this turbo because I already have it but have not seen it used in this application..It is off of a 2002 duramax diesel and only specs I could find were gt 3782- 52 trim- 0.54 a/r - 20lbs boost , using turbo calculator it looks like this (roughly). If anyone here can see why this is not going to work , please feel free to comment , From what I have read here there are some very knowledgable people and input would be appreciated.

Put the Duramax in the RX7.

Your pretty chart from the useless turdbocalculator means nothing.

you have failled to tell us anything that would allow anyone ehre to tell you if that turbo would work for you or not. What the ---- do you expect from the vehicle?

I was plannig to run semi pro, car extremely lightened , caged and either 8.8 3:23 mustang diff. or narrowed dana 60, same gears. 3800 stall. th 350, full manual. By the way just learning my way around turbos,,I thought the chart would help.. apparently not..

You still haven't told us basics - how much power do you want out of it, n00b? Because if you think a 700 whp compressor is going to flow 950 then you are smoking rocks.

Re: gt 3782

Thats exactly why I am asking your opinion,, If its only good for 550-600 fine,, I'll add another power adder,,

If you want to drag race in a class, run the largest turbo you can possibly run would be close to the best idea.

Re: gt 3782

Thanks for the response,, this is a very budget minded build,, free car ,free motor ,,free turbo all I have to do is the fab work. I'm just trying to make it reliable and not smash parts everytime it hits the track,,it's just bracket ---- so reliable is big concern. My main reason for this build is there are next to no turbo small block cars here,, and I can't think of one cross breed.

Look at the compressor map. Lb/hrs of air times ten equals whp - more or less. There is usable power to the right of where the map ends, but it comes at the expense of hot charge temps, shortened turbo life, and you aren't going terribly far to the right.
