Re: greddy/trust goes bankrupt?

I am not a greddy fan, but this is the reason I don't support chinese knockoffs, they are not only running big companies down the drain, they are also destroying the whole desire to hook up a car, unsafe cheap garbage. someone needs to put a lock on importing these junk parts.
OBX is an ok chinese company but they are also driving the industry down also. I have no problem with paying less for something, but at least make it good quality stuff.

Re: greddy/trust goes bankrupt?

this is just part of a global economy. They cant produce a product that is deemed a "good value" compared to the chinese nock offs. I personaly would rather buy a 30$ BOV then a 200$ one.. Even if i have to replace it in 3 years, its a better value for me.

And dont get the term vlaue confused with quality.

Re: greddy/trust goes bankrupt?

People always bash chinese ---- but when people don't have alot of money to begin with what are they left with? Just saying well if you can't pay for the toys then you can't play. It's just the truth. It goes for pretty much everything nowadays. I don't think they'll go under personally and Trust will just dissapear. An investor will come in and get them. But then like someone said in that blog, if they and other companies happen to go under, then who will chinese companies copy?

Quality only - Garrett, Cometic, Tial, ARP, ACT, and a whole host of of others. Free Orange Chicken with each purchase of a turbocharger.

My quality control teacher made a good comparison:

"If you buy a hammer at the dollar store, and the handle breaks after using it for a few weeks, You still got a pretty good value right? I mean you paid a dollar for a hammer, If you had high expectations you're an idiot".

im glad they are going bankrupt.

thats for charging a 150 percent markup for their jdm name.

having good quality control dosent cost that much.

There quality control in recent times has gone down hill as Im sure they started getting stuff manufactured in Taiwan/China to save money. It is sad to see but Im not surprised :-\

Cheap knockoffs are good and all, but once the people that make the parts that get copied no longer exist...

Well...you're going to end up with cheap copies of parts for the rest of your life :6

Re: greddy/trust goes bankrupt?

well, my RFL knockoff BOV works fine.

i dont need something fancy.

my tial knockoff works great and on the same principle as when they first came out.

i dont run chinese turbos,

and i dont ------ need any fancy EMS or boost controllers.

and exhaust systems. sorry but i know an old guy thats been doing exhaust his whole life and i would pit his exhaust against any 1000 dollar system that greedy can come up with.

Re: greddy/trust goes bankrupt?

I never did understand why they tried selling exhaust systems for that high

import market is dying, and has been for quite a few years

Re: greddy/trust goes bankrupt?

I am sure the CDM part plays a big part of it but also seeing how less and less ppl touch their car.
seeing how the newer Camry/Accord/minivan has 270 horse is just ridiculous, even the last gen M5 with 400 hp is just "quick" enough.

you run chinese turbos but you run chinese wastegates?
I'd rather run a shitty turbo before I run a shitty wastegate.
REASONS:
if the turbo fails you get 0 boost smoke etc.
if the wastegate fails you hit max boost blow your motor.

don't get me wrong I[ve used a obx lsd for 5 years now still working. knock on wood. also run some ebay cosmetic parts, but thats about it.

Tom-Guy 09-16-2008 05:30 PM

Re: greddy/trust goes bankrupt?

Debris from a bad motor can get past the pickup tube screen and eat the bearings out of a bottom end.

I'd rather run a chinese wastegate than a chinese turbo; boost cut can save your ass.

rudebwoy 09-16-2008 05:45 PM

Re: greddy/trust goes bankrupt?

but remember the guys who uses the chinese parts are too cheap to get a engine management that allows boost cut, they use fmu and afc hack :)

Case in point with Apexi is the pillow ball coil-overs they make for my Evo. They're ridiculously priced (usually around $2200 for the entire kit) where as the same factory that produces those coil-overs for Apexi ALSO makes the coil-overs for Megan Racing. Same coil-over, usually a $800 price tag, just a different color and name and that's it. One of the guys on my Evo forum disassembled both company's coil-overs and took measurements and photos...exact same.
