Re: got turbines?
Hi. :D
https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss...hootin_8_1.jpg What size are those turbos? I would have went with somethign a bit bigger, but I guess for the price you can't go wrong. Those things are going to spool at idle on your motor. __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re: got turbines?
i hope u have stock heads cuz those turbos arent meant to flow what u need
sellem for 100 a piece and get urself a nice t4 |
Re: got turbines?
you got a real messy work table :P
|
Re: got turbines?
i can get flanges for those turbo's.
Beau |
Re: got turbines?
those turbos should get him to 500hp and spool up better than a straight T4...
|
Re: got turbines?
Nice turbos. Those look like they can push a decent amount of air. My turbo had some gay flange like that too. I just had a piece of aluminum tubing welded to the inlet. Only cost me like ten bucks at a machine shop.
Just noticed you were tlaking about the exhaust inlet flange. That thing is weird, good luck with that. Btw, where do you go shooting? I live in beaverton and have to drive halfway to seaside for a decent place to shoot, and it's not nearly as open. |
Re: got turbines?
hot chicks with guns, johnny's simple yet wonderful life 8)
i still wanna get my glock. |
Re: got turbines?
I have one of the compressor inlet elbows for your turbos, $15 shipped.

Re: got turbines?
Gotta love berretas.

Re: got turbines?
the rifle is a 22LR ;)
i have both the turbo inlets, im not going to use them because they have a lot of gay emissions crap sitting on them, unless i want to block them off. i also have both the stock downpipes, with a lil peice of pipe still left so i can easily weld my downpipe up. the turbos are kinda small... .42/.48, im sure they will spool at idle, but this is a stock 5 liter motor and the heads are stockers, but will be ported. you should see the size of the exhaust ports/intake ports/exhaust valves its almost cartoonish. i'll take some pictures today... i hope they spool at idle cause that is where this engine makes power 1200 - 5000 |

Re: got turbines?
Johnny those turbos are gonna work just fine on your 5.0l, I really doubt they are going to spool at idle, but it will spool pretty fast.

unless johnny's trying to make some crazy hp gains from em, I dont see them being a bottleneck in his setup. |

Re: got turbines?
heads got some work done to em today. i noticed one of the valve guides is cracked. so its probably guna need all new valve guides.
as for the CARTOONISH size of the ports on these heads i got some pictures. i put a gasket up to it and started to port match. it does make a huge difference ;) i dont know what the deal with my bit is but it doesnt work on cast that well. it took me a good hour to not even finish one exhaust port. im still working on smoothing the transition of the top of that port. my folks were getting pissed at the air compressor noise. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/heads3.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/heads1.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/heads2.jpg shes gives good head. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/LA_heads1.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/LA_heads2.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/twin_turbines3.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/heads4.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/stuff.jpg |

Re: got turbines?
alex, do you have anything left from your setup with the 2.2 turbos. like flanges? like header flanges with the 2.2 turbo flange already welded on ;)
:-* |

:-* Somethings of interest to note about using the Doidge T3's: You really don't need any special inlet flange (though a few places now sell them on line) Simply place a standard t-3 gasket on the turbo and drill out the necessary 2 holes. It's really that simple Dodge exhasue elbows are not reversible I. E. one of them will face straight up and no other T3 5 bolt flange fits a Dodge T3. I welded a 5 bolt flange from a Saab directly to the turbo housing. That alliowed me to make a down pipe for the drivers side {see pic) http://www.mustangmods.com/data/920/mvc004f.jpg Oh yeah, that unit is a 50 trim wheel and 15 psi is about right on the edge of the compressors effeciency range. It will take that to make in the 400s with the ,42/.48 housings. yo9u sho9uld be fine with the 46lb units as loing as you run a properly cal'd meter. If you don't plan to run any type of tuner (twEECer or EEC-Tuner) lock out your timing at 22* to take out that variable. That way the eeec only contros fuel parameters and won't advance/retard the timing past the 22* ever. 22* is safe to start and you can raise/lower from there. |
Re: got turbines?
how would i lock out the timing? what would the base timing be set at?
