Default Got tuned today! very pleased :)

well after two months of trying to get tuners to get me in their schedule and a few flakers, I finally got Joseph Davis to tune my car today. I was going to use Turbo Edit, but it turns out that Turbo Edit isnt very good for dohc vtec motors. its mainly a non vtec motor software.

I ended up using BRE by Ben Ogle on PGMFI and it allows me to use my stock PR3 ECU (awesome!). Got tuned for 12 psi today.

It ------ rips when I have teh turboXS dual stage on high settign (12psi). I lose a little traction in 3rd once I get into my power band at about 5500rpm, but not to much and its grabs quickly. The only problem is that I only welded one O2 bung in teh downpipe and you have to use both O2 sensors or you get a CEL. I only get the CEL if I'm idling at a stop. if I give it a little gas it goes away...I can live with that until I get another bung to weld in.

so on my way home for the 2 hour drive back, I was gettign on the interstae and this Magnum Hemi (the station wagon thing) is all over my ***, so I take off coming out of teh turn and in teh straight that is ahead. I'm at 6 psi and hes on my *** the whole time....----...I had to exit off to get on another higway......

Next kill.....when I got about 30 minutes from home a red late model TA comes next to me so I dont let him go anywhere once he got next to me and I gave it a little gas in 5th and he kept up. so the next time we line up, I rev match it to get into 3rd and he starts to hit itand I hit it too (at 6psi again) and just leave him by like 3 cars and let off bc I had to exit again. I had a friend with me on that one.

when I'm at 6 psi it pulls pretty good, but if I pu tthe MBC at the 12psi setting before I hit it, it pulls ok, then it jumps from like 4 or 5 to 12 and really kicks you in teh ***. I love it

setup is a 91 CRX Si
B16A stock
T3 .48/.60
DSM 450cc injectors
GM 2 bar MAP sensor
walboro 255lph
FMIC, home made short tubualr manifold
SSAC 38mm WG with 6 psi spring
2.5" DP to a 3" exhaust/resonator
turboXS dual stage MBC (the ------- ----!)
FTL @ 4K rpm
vtec 4450
rev limit 8200

BRE is the ----! I encourage everyone who is OBD0 to check it out at PGMFI!

Be on the lookout for my .bin file for this setup to show up teh the page for this prgram on pgmfi. Jpseph should be posting it soon. MAD props to JD for all his hard damn work today

Ben's done a really good job pulling the PR3/PW0 codebase together. I was really surprised by BRE. The BRE forum on PGMFI has the basic info, but the OBD0 VTEC forum has the thread about PW0/PR3 boost code and all required information. Thanks to Blundar for pulling my bacon from the fire + suggesting BRE. I was to the point of spending my afternoon scavenging parts from four OBD1 distributors to make one and building an OBD1 conversion harness.

Chris' car runs really well, I feel pretty good about it. GM 2 bar support was flawless. It's a conservative tune, but I felt uncomfortable going more than .75 deg/psi due to the small IC and wanting to push right at 2:1 PR on a straight T3 which is right where it starts pushing higher charge temps. EGTs ran a flat 1400 degrees WOT when tuning was more-or-less done, so I imagine the ignition wasn't too far off the mark.

PS - Anyone trying to use BRE's PR3 Try4.bin (and possibly the PW0, where I think the maps are sourced from) for forced induction BEWARE - we were getting a good bit of pingies on tip in due to the low cam ignition map. I ended up chucking the whole ignition setup and inferring one from OBD1 203 (P30) code. Will post up the .bin here, on xenocron's site, and on PGMFI when I get it off the laptop - currently whoring the bad internet from my friend Dave's computer at his shop. :P

I've used BRE, it is a pretty simple program and has great potential, the boost code has been in the works for a while. Wasn't sure anyone was using it. I use it on a nitrous car, with a JDM PW0 ecu. I thought I was screwed, b/c they wanted to keep that ecu, didn't want to go to a PM6, this really made it easy.
