Got a special package today.

Came home to a suspicious package dropped off by the brown truck today.
I wonder who it could be from?

I know all us HMT people open our mail this way. HMT letter opener (screwdriver).

Wait! I think I know what it is :D

Aaaww Yeah! Dave (CSaddict) did the welding for me on these puppies. It came out really clean, and although I don't have a pic of it, the throttlebody assembly is almost perfectly lined up with the runners. A little trimming of the runner length and they will be golden.

What do I think of Dave's work, and HMT?

Thanks alot Dave, these things should be pretty fun on the Mini-me hatch once I finish up the fuel rail and TPS.

Re: Got a special package today.

Haha nice. Yeah Alex I was considering turboing this one too but I drive it everyday and having 2 turbo vehichles and keeping them reliable tends to be a problem for me... I just keep trying to get more power and more boost until that one day it goes pop. I figured I'd keep it safe for now ;)

Re: Got a special package today.

I was thinkin about doin ITB's on a 240SX project I'm startin this summer this summer. I've got few questions:

1. How are you plannin on controlling the idle? I was thinkin of using the factory IACV and teeing the idle air using vacuum (see pic below)

2. What are you you using for throttle bodies?

3. How did you mount your injectors?

Re: Got a special package today.

What are you going to tune with? I hear crome is quite good for ITB's. I had a set for a while but sold them after my money ran out.

Re: Got a special package today.

I'll probably be tuning with TE. Thats what I've been running for the Vtec activation and Mini-me tuning. I'm sure it'll handle a set of ITB's. Actually if I'm not mistaken thats what Jeff used for the B16 ITB project. But as for the throttlebodies I used a set of GSXR600 throttle bodies, some aftermarket stacks, and will be using the throttle body fuel injector locations to supply the fuel. I'm also going to have to create some sort of vacuum log, but there really isn't much left until I can install them. I'm about half way there.

Steve here are the ones I got. Looks like a Honda TPS. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

Re: Got a special package today.

Nice Dave, strip those puppies down and you'll be able to take it from there. If I'm not mistaken I'm 99% sure the CBR TPS is plug and play with the Honda automobile TPS. So that's a plus. Good deal on the price too.

Re: Got a special package today.

Those are the same ones i bought. both the map sensor and tps plug right in.

tranceminister 04-20-2005 04:15 PM

Re: Got a special package today.

Dave's got the right idea then as far as choosing a throttlebody that will make life easier when building a set for your car. I've got a 91 hatch these are going on so the MAP sensor is mounted on the firewall. Just need to run the vacuum line.

Re: Got a special package today.

Damn! After seeing that, I wish I had one for my B18 Non-VTEC... :(

SpankedYA! 04-20-2005 07:52 PM

Re: Got a special package today.

I can build you one for $300.

tranceminister 04-21-2005 03:27 PM

Re: Got a special package today.

Not too difficult at all to build really. It's pretty fun to do. If I could put more research/ testing in order I'd build them for people as well, but since this is my first set and god knows how they will actually do on my D series, I'm just going to finish these up for now.

Re: Got a special package today.

did you guys have to cut the original intake manifold for that??? did you use a band saw ???

tranceminister 04-22-2005 06:22 PM

Re: Got a special package today.

Yeah Julio. I just cut a stock D series manifold flange off and used my angle grinder to do it. Then just got some aluminum stock the same measurements as the runners and had Dave (CSaddict) weld them on where I needed them. I left them long, so they will be chopped down a bit shorter than pictured. Good for torque though ;)

Re: Got a special package today.

Man this makes me wish i was finished stage 1 of my personal project. Weather here sucks and I don't feel like putting my motor in :p
Next step is the gsxr itbs and an airbox so it'll work cleanly with the turbo ;)

Re: Got a special package today.

Mine just got here and the cold idle valve or that s what I think it is, is broken. :-\ I dont think I need it anway.
